  1. "Myriad" is just a fancy word for "many," so does not need to be preceded by "a" or followed by "of." You wouldn't say "… suffering from a many of issues .." If you must use "myriad," it's just "… suffering from myriad issues …"

  2. What about ancient proxy wars? Judah payed Assyria to fight Aram and Israel. Persia payed to keep the Greek city states fighting. Though not ancient, the 30 years war was initially a proxy war prior to France officially getting involved.

  3. The American Revolutionary War, by definition, was not a proxy war; despite what many historians (probably British subjects) have come to believe. Also, can a United Nations sanctioned military intervention be considered to be a "proxy action"? And, if so, on who's behalf. Also the "Vietnam War" (America hasn't actually declared a war since WWII, and only five wars in it's history) was supported by the United States, South Korea, the Philippines, Australia, Thailand and other anti-communist allies (New Zealand included (their first time fighting without the British)) ; the British and French basically passed the baton to the US after operation Masterdom. Of course we know the Korean conflict was a UN action (in which approx 100,000 British troops participated). So, you can take anything of a political nature that Simon and his cohorts purport to be decidedly biased based on Millennial naivety, and blatantly anti – American sentiment (why?). Don't call us next time Germany acts up again.

  4. You should do a segment on The Kurdish People's & their history with Turkey. Also the fact that Turkey with Russia's help is pulling the same genocide tactics against the Kurd's as they did the Armenians.

  5. Thank you so much for this one. I requested it a while back. I'm glad to see it made. This video is everything I hoped for and more.

Some thoughts: First, another war that at least deserved honorable mention was the American Civil War. It didn't start out a proxy, but it sort of became one (or at the very least tried to).

Second, it's fascinating how the majority of the proxy wars (from Korea to present) all find their roots in WW2. Ironically, the confusing quagmire created by the recent Middle Eastern wars is reminiscent of the conditions leading to WW1.

On a side note, I highly recommend anyone reading this comment try the book "The Fate Of Empires" by John Glubb. It's available for free as a PDF online. Very insightful, yet brief.

  6. While it's a fair argument to say the the revolutionary war was a proxy war. Wouldn't it be a better, given the participating powers and allies, to argue that it was a world war?

  7. Your biases shows even in phrasing. All people are equal in democracy but some more so. Soviet Azerbaijan was with large margin bigger than Soviet Kurdistan also held big population centers. The way you phrase it: Soviets supported Kurds and also established Azerbaijan sov rep is not wrong but misleading. Also? you go home say; honey I got paid today and also I won lottery? that makes sense to you? George Carlin says 'when people have common interests they do not need to meet to do conspiracy'. Western media is very efficient in propaganda even so more than governments they call autocracy.

  8. The Syrian 'civil war' wasn't a result of the Arab Spring, so much as the CIA pumping millions into opposition groups to ferment sectarian conflict. Its all out there of you care to look beyond mainstream media.
