  1. My Dad, Hoy D "Bud" Embree @ 19:30 flew with the "Foul Ball" as a fill in at Ball Turret. Wounded on his 2nd mission and received the Distinguished Service Cross for continuing, while severely wounded, to engage the enemy with the lone gun still operational. He spoke very highly of Clark Gable because Capt. Gable didn't just appear in front of the camera for publicity sake but actually flew in combat and risked his life along with his Army-Air Corps comrades.

  2. My late uncle by marriage Jack O'mohundro flew 25 missions with the 351st as commander in his ship the "Belle of the Bayous". He recalled Gable said he was a nice guy. Uncle Jack then spent 35 years flying for Pan American. He ended his career as a captain of a Boeing 747. He passed away in 2010 at the age of 88

  3. My Dad was in this group about a year after this film was made. He is still alive 92. He was a waist gunner and Top Turet/Enginer. I suppose he saw this when it first came out. It would be interesting to see what he remembers seeing this film now. He said there were interesting stories about Gable.

  4. There are so many lessons the kids today could learn from the guys that fought in WWII. These are the warriors of the past that insured our future. From a warrior of a different generation to another, thanks!
