  1. this is brilliant. People that we know and say he or she is in their own world, they are in the state of flow. The point from when your a kid and then you "wake up" and become more self aware, that is slowly awakening from the flow state. Its almost like being sedated in a positive way. I have been trying to get back to the flow state for years, but am holding on to something I need to workout before I can give in.

  2. This talk should have hit 50.000,000 views. It far better than any Simon Senek's ted talks. Imagine, from the moment you wake up till you go to bed, you'r living in this flow state. In this state, there literally isn't time to be spent in the past for any reason, anyone who gets you to do that isn't in the flow.
Imagine, watching one time how to do something complicated and duplicating it and not thinking about it. Lets see he did that and he did that and this and that, Its a silent mind, the word is mushin. It just happens on its own. That's the flow. And yes, when, I looked back and connected with time slowing down, I instantly relaxed, I had a major project in front of me and I was in a tense state and I recalled having major projects during that period of my life of always being in the flow and how time seemed to creep by so ever slowly and the tension went away.
Everything Steven has shared in this talk, at school, seeing spelling words on a sheet of paper handed out by the teacher and seeing the first few words and taking the test the next day and writing down what I saw in my head and get them right. I only saw the first few words and I didn't know the ABCs, how to read and write. Just like at age 10, a few years earlier, my sister read a book, put it down and I picked it up and read it, repeating the words, the first time to hear my voice. In the 6th grade was when my education started, I finally learned to read and write, learned the ABCs, colors, shapes…etc and had to do everything the other students were doing. I was miles behind the starting line and had I had a tutor, I could have graduated within 3 or 4 years of 6th grade.
Now, how could I of held on to this flow for so long? After as near drowning at age six, I was psychologically restarting my life over, I was in most ways like a 16 month old child, and active like a 3 year old, I simply didn't have a mind. And from age 6 to 13, I had no stimulation from any electronic device, my parents never told me no for anything I did. My dad would just redirect me making it harder to find another way to do something that was dangerous. I wanted to take that risk again, I would have to find another way to make it happen.
This behavior, a child like mentality stayed with me into my late 30s. What ever I did it happen with ease, I took on management jobs and accomplished goals-which to me I saw visions, like Steve talked about passion I had intent-which came from the creation of a vision-in the vision I saw only the end of it-which meant I had to create the start and the journey. And risk, I have pissed off a lot of upper management, owners, but, I got results. I changed things that needed to make working situations better. I broke records, or set the bar high, and what I see looking back, I was having fun through it all.
Here is how it goes, a thought creates a vision, the vision shows an end. Where you stand is the beginning, to get to the end, to complete the task, goal, vision, intent or challenge, means passing through the middle of right and wrong, good and bad, the negative and the positive, because, that stuff is going to be there and you can't be pulled to either side, its a neutrality state.
This isn't an intrinsic state. You're in the flow. There will be no reason for doing it other than a thought put you up to it. Its outside human comprehension. In order for it to be intrinsic, means that you're aware of yourself and well, some expectation or self gratification or fulfillment is in order. This kind of stuff is what kicks you in and out of the flow. To always be in the flow. You simply live off of your thoughts. By not judging right and wrong, good and bad, and not seeing the negative or the positive. You naturally live in a balanced state and without thinking about it.
How will you engage in each new encounter? Can you keep an open mind and let mushin move you through the experience? Are you detached from yourself or attached to yourself? Do you have an ego? What could I take away from you and you will not miss it, not even think about it? What if, you had to start over from scratch?
Imagine, being able to build a vertical rotary engine with the transmission built inside of it and stick your head inside the engine and watch it work, get the bugs out and it doesn't require the use of fan belts. Its the year 2000, I'm brainstorming with my business partner and he tells me. You need to create another idea to keep 5000 employees working. I pause a few second, I hold up my spiral notebook and point to the cover and say, I see a screen and in the future doctors will use it to read patients charts and people will use it to read books. He comes back and says, No thats not a good one, doctors have to use paper for keeping files. YEAH, we totally blew that one. I pause, ok, how about a pistol grip that identifies the owner? He liked that one. Here's one, 1974, I'm 15, I came home for lunch from school. I had sandwiches for lunch, as I was rolling up the chip bad. I told mom, someone should make a clip to keep the bad closed. How about a Lunch Box Radio.
Imagine, showing a 43 year old Wendys franchise a better, safer way to filter their frying oil.
Once, you tap into this, living in the flow, you'll never want to let it go. Its a lot of fun.

  3. Good stuff! As an avid Playah, I believe it is one of the fastest ways to get into a flow state is via juggling… how do you learn how to juggle quickly? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6x4u_gTjKk Usually can train someone from never juggling to doing a three ball cascade < 30 minutes… World's most amazing brain exercise, eye coordinator, de-stresser, mind-focuser, amusement maker… etc.Get Your Play On!!!
