"What holds your ATTENTION holds your life"
Because of smartphones its now easier than ever to become great. How? Simply by not being an addict and working on yourself while everyone else is working on their filters.
I DONT UNDERSTAN THE PEOPLE THAT SOROUND ME THEY PAY 1000 2000 FOR A COSTY PHONE WHEN I HAVE A CHEAP PHONE AND DO THE SAIM S*** AS THEM REVALBING DOOR LIFE CRAZY WE THE PEOPLE ARE STU*** THATS ONE REANSON HUNGER IS REAL
Turn the phone off – simple!!!! It takes 7 days to form a habit and 7 years to break it… remember that next time you think about downloading an app..
Boo, anderson cooper on 60 minutes , not good for ratings . Please hire a new honest reporter that's educated and un-biased . Cooper is the kiss of death for ratings , he looks old , angry and crazy , he needs a sun tan , looks like he's depressed and on drugs , he aged dramatically after TRUMP WON and anderson's boyfriend dumped him . Hire a new , young reporter 60-minutes , before anderson kills your ratings!
Now take this idea and look at where technology is headed. Elon Musk and others are creating a neural implant that allows your mind to directly interface with the internet. No clumbsy thumbs or time consuming log in method to stand in the way of our dopamine rush.
I see two overarching solutions to this (at the personal level):
1. Take the addicts's approach; separate yourself from your phone completely. This won't work, unfortunately. The approach also requires removing everything you associate with the addiction from your life and… well that's almost every social aspect of your life at this point. You could be okay with integrating your social life into these devices, and surrendering whatever control you'd have to the marketing ploys of these companies. Or…
2. You could take a utilitarian approach to these devices. Save your smartphone for task management and organization. Use it as a tool to fuel your interests, but give it no power over anything subjective; if it does not strictly increase productivity, you would not use said feature.
Some of the most successful and social people I know take this approach. From researchers to CEO's, these task-oriented individuals actually spend more time socializing meaningfully with their friends than do the insta and snap addicts.
I'm not an expert. But I trained as a psychologist then ended up going into computers later with my own support firm. It is painfully evident to me that this video is spot on. We are the rats pushing the lever to get a pellet of food. We are Pavlov's dogs salivating when we hear the bell. We are the subjects in the experiment. We've become the product. I wish I knew what the answer was.
This is fascinating
12:35 i know u lyin 👋
12:35 look at the first app lmao.
Whew.. thank goodness I am not very liked on most social platforms I visit… I just can't imagine that kind of anguish and mental suffering.
It is important for parents and upcoming intellectuals to remind us about life balance. The best tell rounded individual. Moment ZEN.
My brain is hacked – dopamine is release 🤯
He needs to get together with Mr. Snowden. The Man is correct.
My brain is hacked WOW
Everything he said has to do with human psychology…..it has nothing to do with technology….Keep reading that until it clicks.
It’s safe to say that college truly isn’t necessary.
Is it bad I am watching this on a app on my phone?? Hmmm……….
do both . entertain and inform.
Herd mentality… just a bunch of sheep being led to slaughter.
Facebook and Instagram are the same as watching reality TV. Why watch other people live their lives, just go out and live your own life. Why play games on your phone? Go out and interact with people! I don't have and don't use any of those apps. For years, I have worked in high-security jobs where we are not allowed to have cellphones at our desks. Not only do I not miss my phone, but countless times I have left it at home the entire day. I watch Youtube occassionally when I want to, not when a stupid chime goes off. Resist the urge folks. People need to get a life, and live in the real world.
And 90% are watching on a phone
I have ADHD, depression and an anxiety disorder. Tech is addicting, the constant scrolling puts my anxiety through the roof sometimes. but I'm learning to turn it off as soon as I start getting anxious. I have to do my best in balancing it by going outside for an hour or more so I can think clearly and refocus on different things that I enjoy. Im 52, with no family of my own so I'm vulnerable to this stuff. Im stuck between 2 worlds. It isn't easy as I thought.
Without my phone I would have never seen this..?
Social media is making us less social and bringing with it mental illnesses. So many children given smart phones and allowed to grow up abusing social media are depressed and anxious.
You'll tell us about it happening on social media, but make no mention of the fact the government works behind social media – 60 minutes, all MSM are Smith Mundt Mod Act.
___ . You all deserve to be boycotted, you're all traitors.
Good well said they have a program specific to hack your memory an thoughts an fade your reality
This is supposed to have closed captioning for the hard of hearing and Deaf
I think we as humans are NOT ready to handle social media and cell phones… Its unfortunate but theyre clearly doing it this way by design… I dont think its about selling our info to advertisers, at the end of the day people spend almost the same as always, limited of course by their salaries… Call me a conspiracy theorist but I think theyre harvesting all our info, and not for commercial purposes… U really think the last receiver of our info are advertisers??? Lmao theyre just a link in the chain… We will never know who really is the END receiver of our info
To think that the smart phones, apps, and social media, pretty much dictate how we view the world around us. No wonder everybody blindly hates Trump and the values of America WITHOUT QUESTION!!! They ARE brainwashed to hate him.
11:11 – ding — thanks for that cortisol spike, bozos!
Building a technological civilization running on a greed-motivated economy — what could possibly go wrong?
Makes you wonder why there are no regulations on these apps just like there are on alcohol, cigarettes, gambling…
Engineering dopamine junkies, cradle to grave
Still waiting for the 128 bit processor for the desktop. I think they fired all the people that know how to make it.
