  1. Answer: Politicians like to entertain themselves with the belief that their goal or agenda is just to go in and win an argument. They rather win an argument only than to actually get things done because getting things done means spendng money they don't want to let go. And results have to be positive for all sides and not just who you represent.

  2. People, this is 2019 and this New Rule is not only still relevant, but the one thing we did managed to get something done it being undone thanks to Trump (Healthcare) and the sad thing poor people who support this fool are okay with this even with them needing it! : – |

  3. If we had to fight World war two over again, the Germans and the Japanese would have won!!! For a brief moment after the most terrible war in history, we were Finland!!!!!

  4. The system worked for 50 years until Reagan started tearing up funding and regulations for the capitalist free for all that first took down S&Ls, then a crash, then tripled the national debt. Americans can solve problems. That's why the Oligarchs like Sandra Day O'Connor gave Bush v Gore standing to be the 4th and final vote in spite of in her own words- its specious reasoning. aka I want to retire and pick my replacement.

  6. Bill Maher doesn’t get it. The Government is a business. Problems – real, imagined or concocted – are opportunities that lead to action which means budgets with cash which leads to departments and jobs. Solving a problem is a kin eliminating customers. It’s not about solving anything it’s about findings things for the government to do and monetizing. When improvements do happen we simply change our perspective I.e. move the goal posts such that it appears as though no progress has ocurred. As for things being terrible- the world continues to become less poor, less dangerous, more prosperous and less polluted with each passing day.

  7. You can't start from scratch on healthcare, why? because too many companies don't want a system whereby everyone receives basic cover from the unemployed to the super rich. You get told that's communism. If it was implemented there would be allegations of Russian interference. Too many companies are making billions from the current system which with your corrupt political system means that the current unfair system will be around for a long time yet. They call it democracy.
Australia has a medicare system whereby everyone has access to basic healthcare regardless of their financial status. It's paid for by those who work and is taken out of their pay as part of the taxation system. There is private healthcare in Australia too and many Australians have private healthcare which they pay for themselves. Private healthcare comes with many tiers of care from the top cover which covers everything to selected levels of healthcare. You don't have to be a multi millionaire in Australia to afford private healthcare.
But then again Australian workers are paid a proper wage unlike the US which has hoards of very low paid workers. Australia has the "award" system that sets rates of pay. But employees and employers can negotiate wages rates above the award BUT NOT BELOW THE AWARD. An employer that pays below the award is fined big money and can have their business closed down by the government. Australian Governments of all stripes take a hard line with employers who exploit their workers simply for company profits. Which is why McDonald's workers in Australia are adults receiving a far higher hourly rate than their US counterparts. Between $19 and $22 dollars per hour flat rate. They get $33 an hour on Saturday and $44 an hour on Sundays or time and a half and double time. All companies that want their workers to work weekends have to pay weekend penalty rates. Yes many employers complain that weekend penalty rates are sending them broke but they still pay because they have no choice. It's the law. Even the politicians have tried in the past to get rid of weekend penalty rates and have all failed. Employee groups have stated that when politicians start working on weekends with no penalty rates then they'll consider allowing penalty rates to be removed. But politicians never work weekends or public holidays and have no intention of starting anytime soon.
