16. i relate to this in a way. I originally wanted to be a physician (STEM is my thing, def not humanities) because I thought it was a lucrative career and equated the money to success. when i thought about pursuing medicine and applying to med school and internships etc etc, i found the same distaste for the competitive/almost toxic nature and it turned me off, no matter how much I love science. It wasnt until I realized that success =happiness and I am now on a path for a career as a high school math teacher and I couldnt be more excited. sometimes when you choose what you love you get kind of shit on (in my case I was shit on becasue people said i was letting my 'smarts' go to waste becoming a teacher), but youll find what youre meant to do, and love what you do 🙂 I hope someone can relate to this because the whole push for being a stem major can influence you to pick something that youre just not into

19. I understood everything you said! Don't worry about not being "clear". In reality, you are extremely clear, always! You're just talking about some subjective ideas in this video, so you can't be totally objective (as I suppose you would like to be). I love the way you speak and express your ideas, you really know yourself and what is best for you. I watch your videos not only because of Universities/Stanford, but just to see how you think and speak, which I genuinely think it's fantastic. You will do a great job wherever you go!

I was thinking about doing history in college and since I read this it made me really want to explore philosophy and other things a lot more which I was definitely apprehensive to do before but when you talked about how passionate you are about political science which I was interested in anyways it made me even more interested. Thank you!! I feel like history could be potentially useful but like you said political science and philosophy could be a lot more useful for me personally!! also I’m so happy for you for pursuing what truly interests you it makes me happy and makes me want to really think about what I’m looking for for my college process!

25. how would you compare the competitiveness in Computer Science to the competitiveness of a school like Stanford in general? for example, in high school, when you were applying to college, did you feel a similar pressure to apply to a prestigious university, and how did you deal with it? (how would you compare the situations of applying for college and applying for internships? is it fair to say that while you "succeeded" in Stanford, you decided to opt out of the internship competition?)

    also, in high school, were you more interested in humanities or STEM?

    finally, could you maybe do a video on political science? I think people would want to hear what it's about!

26. I went the opposite route. I got a bachelor’s in business management. During my last semester I was job hunting and had zero luck finding a good job with decent compensation. I decided to stick around another year to get a second bachelor’s in CIS. Having a more tech focused degree opened up a lot doors for me. If I decide to go to grad school, I would definitely do CS or MIS. Do what fits best for you and your needs:)

32. Bruh Im going through the same thoughts…like I don’t find myself wanting to work and do coding for my whole life. Especially the whole internship thing I go to UTA so the competition is pretty tough. thinking of switching over to aerospace as it’s one thing that I’ve always enjoyed the idea of that field. Luckily I’m a freshman and not late into my sophomore year so I dint lose as much time if I do decide to switch over. Plus the whole thing where I can learn coding through videos is probably better than in class imo it is.
