I am so so so tired of these talks that all have this same theme. YES office jobs in the Matrix DO kill people's souls. DUH?!?! Those who are rich enough do not tie themselves to desks and soulkilling jobs….those of us who are not and have to pay bills and do not want to end up under the bridge…..will have to stay in these jobs. WOW. What a new idea right?
To be honest this ted talk is just a miss. I dont believe she is talking to the majority of people who are actually unsatisfied and also dont have the means to just quit there life and try and start over. Facts are most people( at least in America) live paycheck to paycheck. Also most dont have more than $1500 dollars in savings. I somewhat understand what she was going for but it seemed to only apply the 5-10%. In my opinion the true answer is to first find your passion and what you love to do and find a way to make a living doing it. In addition, be conservative with your spending and dont live up to your means. Save 30% and live off the 70% left. If you are already rich than this talk may have been perfect for you. Im talking to the other 90%.
This talk seems geared towards someone who has achieved financial security/freedom. It was an interesting listening but not what I was expecting.
Society doesn’t give you permission to be original
It gives you permission to be acceptable
Uhh… for the most part, people can't change their lives around very easily because that means going back to college, and college cost has gotten way out of control, almost as if 'they' are purposely creating a caste society system. Something American colonists rejected when they moved to America, and now 'they' are reinstituting it. If there isn't a better case for revolution, I don't know what is. If not now, when?
Is this more nonsense just like reinvent yourself?
Everyone, think about how our species lived for hundreds… if not thousands of years. Compare that model of humanity to what how we live today and you’ll be reminded of what really matters in life. Love & Peace to all
Not feeling it. Nope.
To many commenters: Yes, she is speaking mostly to the rich, privileged, basically financially secure people. Yet the rest of us can still learn several things from that address. For example, that earning all the money in the world doesn't necessarily make you happy. Or even, make you feel like you belong.
To me this is a groundbreaker. I really admire this sharing. This said, I can't agree with statements like "there's nothing inherently wrong with investment banking" (for example). Well, there is, and a lot. There are many jobs which are surely useful for the particular corporations (that's why they are so well-paid), but useless (or often very harmful) to society in general, and to the world as a whole. And those frustrated cases of people doing those jobs just happen to be aware of it, or feel it.
All those jobs sound exhausting. Makes me glad I am a scout sniper firefighter machine gunner a lot less stressful than Wall Street!
I don't work. I don't have any income. I don't have any friends. Glad to find out others want a life like mine. I would not give this up for $4,000 a month. If you are single and do not know how to live on $250 a month watch CheapRVLiving.
It would be impossible for my family to spend 40% of what we spend now, let alone 10%. I like most of this talk, but that particular suggestion assumes huge amounts of privilege.
I just here only learn how to quit my life.
This is the very reason why I started vlogging, I have done a lot of life and even business reboots and wanted to share my experiences.
Can I do the "dwindling cash experiment"… in reverse??
First, she’s impossible to listen to. All that lip smacking is annoying.
Second, she is charging money for this stupidity!
Can I just quit life….. like, yesterday! I’m so done, this is BS! 🙄
She is making simple things complex. Life has no meaning because we are Slaves of fear and greed in our bodies. Quit the body and you will be free and will have real meaning of free consciousness. Just Kill yourself and you will become free. It is the most effective and simple solution))
In this economy he is lucky to have a job? This must be a really old TED talk?
This is all great advice BUT can you teach those of us how to reboot that aren't already earning $100k a year. Those of us that are completely broke from divorce or other tragedy. People with disabilities & still want to "live." All these scenarios already have money. Money to "reboot." Advice those of us that are at the bottom & need a hand getting up. Also, a little more emphasis on how to find our passions, would have been most helpful
What an out of touch lecture for those who arent investment bankers
I would like to kiss her.
It's a fun until you are homeless
Tedx said, u need to stay within the red dot carpet when u r presenting an idea worth spreading.
Yet she walked so much, that I can't focus on what she is saying………
What is the biggest need in the world that I can help to address…. She only need to say this without advertising her business….. 🤭
She had me until the income thing… can’t really do that when you’re living paycheck to paycheck 🙄
yellow jackets France. they got in two months 10 years worse of concessions from plutocrats. also Germany 4 days workweek in financial industry 🙂 while u were talking forward to now – Steve Bannon works hard to unite ultra right (fascists) around the world and we should unite too internationally (oxford union interview of Bannon) and response Steve Bannon | Philosophy Tube

I quit my job to start a business. it failed, now I want to die.
great.
Most borind TEDx!
She has some insights but her video is very prescriptive.
So everyone is miserable but some have money and most don't
i should kill my fking self and hope for reincarnation
i have nothing to lose so idc
Just one question. Ok I am fearless now and why 7 I will take 77 real world practical tests. While I reboot my life who will pay my rent and bills, and provide for my family?
ms robot
This is old news and extremely boring.
Nice Video. You are #2 in the top 10 results for the keyword 'quitting your job at 45'.You are almost there.
Lasted 10 seconds, I can't listen to people with dry mouths. FFS lady drink some damn water!
I'm sorry but this feels a lot like marketing….she's basically promoting her work and company to people so that they sign up for it….she uses overall sophisticated titles for her methods and doesn't go into details as to how one is suppose to do them, it's like watching a trailer for a movie….i don't know why TEDx would allow this…it's bizarre to me the idea that someone does a TEDx talk for the sole purpose of promoting his/her job…
1) Imagine what you want your obituary to sound like by imagining all that you want from life and work backwards from your death.
2) Recall, with the help of those who know you best, the times you felt most alive. Draw them into a comic strip.
3) Get prepared for this drastic life change by doing uncomfortable things, mostly via social awkwardness.
4) Define your life motto that is at the heart of all that you believe in and want.
5) Figure out exactly how much cash you really need to survive by looking at your monthly expenses. (I personally advise that you factor unpredictable events also).
6) Learn what you like to do by helping solve various different challenges others are facing.
7) Have your friends hold you accountable by announcing your deadline to make the big change.
I'm looking forward to rebooting my life, but part of it means leaving the small town I live in, but have a 16 year old son who still has two more yrs of high school. I've become very unhappy with my job as a firefighter/medic and can retire early as next June. I still haven't found my passion, but I do know I want to leave this place. Any advice?

LOOOOOOOLL if i'm gonna quit my life I need to have one first. This talk is clearly not for everyone
Fear stops rich people. The rest of us are stopped by much more concrete and insurmountable problems, and we can't afford to hire people like Priya Parker to run a consultant analysis on our lives.
