8. Some grief modders on GTAV uses mods to expose all players in the online server and do whatever they want with that IP (DDOS, crash specific player games, etc.). It's worth using the VPN for that extra 20 or so ping to handle the hassle and I also think some Counter Strike titles allow players to see other players IP through console commands too which is available for everyone to see with minimal effort.

I'm a pc gamer and i regular play games like rocket league, monster hunter world, pes2020, fifa20, overwatch, apex legends, gtav online. I'm yet to see or experience any real benefit in using the vpn while playing these games. I actually find that it prevents me from accessing some of these games until i turn off the vpn. So please i need someone to convince me that i didnt waste my money on a vpn subscription. Thanks.

Scott explicitly points out that VPNs mask activity from ISPs, are useful for torrents/piracy, and circumvent region-locking and throttling. His main issue is that VPNs mislead customers by primarily advertising themselves as a safety tool. I honestly think you two have a lot of common ground here.

13. My biggest concern about deploying a VPN for home use is the effect on multiplayer game communication, which I can't really see any reason to be concealing from anyone at all. I don't want to be playing with high latency, inconsistent performance, or double or triple my ping times when I'm in a game. Also a concern is that the VPN service that I subscribe to will intentionally lower the performance I observe over time, so they can save money on their infrastructure costs while still looking great to new customers. Hard to tell if rumors of that type of thing occurring are true or not.
