  4. I've heard case's that people who's horses are like hard to train,ride,jump,etc are given to slaughter house. I have 2 horses now a black morgan named magnet and a white arabian named Frost and they are angels. Horses don't deserve to suffer like this. Horses are abused,killed,etc and I think the people who do this are the real animals.like this comment if you want to stop horse and other animal abuse to.#stopanimalabuse

Tragedy for these horses.  I can no longer tell the difference between a horse, cow, chicken, pig or dog.  They are all equal and just a few of our fellow earthlings that deserve to live with dignity and the least amount of human interference as possible.  What is happening to horses is nothing compared to the horrors of dairy cows, pigs, cattle and chickens.  We all need to rethink what we eat.   Eating animal products are completely unnecessary in the modern world.  They are extremely unhealthy, completely unsustainable (they are ruining the environment) and there would be enough food for every last person if so much of the food grown wasn't being eaten by the animal industry.  Peace.

  20. If you want to stop the slaughter of horses you must stop the production of excess horses. Yes, you can bellyache and cry all you want over the ones that end up being butchered but the real problem lies in the fact that for every horse butchered someone else is breeding another mare to produce another foal that the world doesn't need.  You cannot cry over slaughtered horses then walk out to your barn to check your mares for wax without being responsible for the horses that are being killed and butchered. You want to stop slaughter? Stop breeding your f&%#ing mares and producing generic foals that have no real purpose or reason for being born. These excess horses going to slaughter come from somewhere. If it is your barn or your barn is producing foals taking the place of the ones that die, then you are the cause of horse slaughter and no one else.

  24. Stopping human consumption won't stop this, not completely. Many kinds of animal meat and meat industry leftovers are used to make feed for other species of animals. It's cheaper.
    I have indeed eaten horse meat, and I find it to have a delightful taste. That doesn't mean I like the way these noble animals are treated. The amount of horses slaughtered is too high for just human consumption purposes. If slaughtering has to happen, it should at least happen locally and humanely.

  35. Vets wont spay horses because to spay a horse is extremely risky, often life threatening. Gelding however should be done regularly because it keeps you from getting unwanted foals and improves the temperament of the horse.

  38. Horse slaughter is necessary people, I'm sorry to burst your bubble. Slaughter reduces unwanted horses either being just set free or neglected. Slaughter is needed and important and now horses will just travel even farther somewhere else in Europe to be killed. That's how it is in the US. slaughter is banned and horses are shipped to Mexico or Canada to be killed.

    In the end the horses are dead, it's sad but they are gone and it doesn't matter after they're dead. Their pain is gone.

  39. Yes, don't just breed a whatever foal because you have any old mare and don't keep uncut males around just because….. we need to spay more mares and neuter more stallions. Not ever horse is meant to be a parent….. hmmm, for that matter, nor is every human…. 🙂

  41. I met this horse that was going to be taken away to the Slaughter house. She was skin and bone. but she could have been a gorgeous little Black filly. She was in pain you could see. Al she wanted to to was lie down and lay her head on your lap and want attention. When you pat her you could feel the bones and all the rough hair from not being groomed in over 4 years. She was sitting in a muddy paddock all this time. It's so sad to see something so beautiful go to waste

  42. The best way to stop horse slaugher will be to get people to stop onsidering horses to be food. In America, most people don't and won't eat horse meat. In much of the rest of the world, horse meat is regulary eaten and sometimes considered a delicacy. So that's half the answer. The other half is to stop overbreeding them. Neither solution will be quick or easy to achieve.
