  1. After some fiddling this also worked on my old Brother MFC-8880DN in combination with a Synology NAS. Crucially, the path to the network folder (as entered via web management) must not start with a slash. In other words, if you want to scan to (Name-of-your-NAS)/Home/Scans/ you need to enter: Home/Scans. Secondly, as to authentication, just the user name was enough for my needs, so no need to put in username@name-your-NAS or something. Lastly, the NAS must be configured to allow SMB1 (can be set as minimum in the synology DSM) because the MFC uses CIFS, which effectively forces SMB1.

  2. I have the Brother mfc-j5730dw. I have set up scan to network drive succesfully but I'm missing one important option and that is to scan with OCR. This seems to be only possible when scanning a document to a PC (instead of a network drive). I'm I missing something or is it really not possible to scan with OCR to a network drive? If not, why is this not possible?

  3. This helped me out a lot. i work for It and i had to set up a brother for office use and this video made it easy to set up scanning to a shared network folder. Thank you

  4. I spent almost 2 fucking hours trying to scan a document with no success from this and some other things. Then I tried the "internet" button on the home screen of the scanner/printer instead of the "scan" button and there there was this super easy option where you could just put in your email and be done with it in 1 minute.

  5. I hear you Scott – driving me NUTZ. Will try support again on Monday. Have no idea why this is so complicated. Why not a simple GUI where you click where you want the damn files and done. Amazing – keeping the until the return is mandated or i get default scan to network working.
