  1. I also don't like the air vents and I see to much similarities in the interiors with the new golf, which I don't like. In Portugal audi charges 2795 euros by the colour Daytona while in Germany, France or Spain are below 1000 euros. This is only one example in my country, almost 10k more expensive. I am truly disappointed with all this.

  2. Who ever has designed the new Audi A3 and new golf need sacking. The car’s are definitely a step backwards. Golf buyers will go to ford and Audi buyers will go to Mercedes I think

  4. I am about to order the car but I am preoccupied regarding the lack of wireless android auto/carplay. Thomas mentioned you won't get it off you order before August so how to overcome this?

  5. They still do the torsion beam suspension? I thought audi stopped with that with the face lifted previous version. That is completely unacceptable for a car at this price honestly. The mk6 golf/a3 generation had independent suspension on all the engines. I bet in 10 years Volkswagen will be putting leaf springs and drum brakes in the golf and a3. Also fake leather, another downgrade from the previous model and don't try to sell me that vegan eco friendly shit, they do it for cost cutting.

  6. Great review as always. I have the previous version S3. Sadly while this looks nice on the outside, the interior feels like a huge step down. It looks too plastic and cheap so doesn’t look Audi quality. Maybe in an A1, but this is an A3. Interior design – too angular, weird upside down door handles.. fingerprint magnet – they will be everywhere, and while the touchscreen is a step up, MMI touch should have stayed. It’s something that can work well when driving and is not distracting, but instead of having it to supplement touch screen, they lose it altogether. It’s a strange thing to dislike, but the steering wheel looks old. This is no longer an entry level premium brand – it’s a Golf with a better badge. If they needed to update the interior, all they needed to do was take the TT/TTS/TTRS minimal interior and throw that in. I like resting my hand on the gear lever even if it is DSG, so it’s nice to see it’s gone 🙁
    Anyway, this feels like an opportunity missed by Audi and unless they want to miss a generation, hopefully they tidy up the inside. To think this was car of the year for so many years. This is so far from that sadly.

  7. Hey Thomas, was there any sense personally that the car's interior was not of the robust standard Audi has made previously? Because some sectional areas of the interior still don't appear as resolved. The left panel section behind the steering wheel normally housed auxiliary buttons (a turn knob in the previous car). They just installed three buttons with a gloss surround (??). The small compartment doesn't have a damper (??). If you had to be extremely honest, it looks as though a car with a water down version of thew new Lamborghini SUV. The car key could be exactly like the VW one. And the small gripe with the car key padlock icon – a padlock icon does not look like a bent one when unlocked. It's just the mirror opposite when it is locked!

  8. Sad to see that Audi keeps in searching a new design identity without finding it. The front face is an example : the new led signature is really too much. The car would have been nicer without this big “led edge” below the main part of the headlight. The interior is an other example of doing things more and more complicated, while they previously had a much more simple but also much more efficient exterior and interior design/identity.

  9. A3s have always been a Golf clone and until recently you could save money and buy the VW variant but both the new Golf 8 and this new A3 look worse than their predecessors. No thanks.
