20. De Blasio just goes on and on and on with his ignorance and stupidity. "Sick people and vulnerable people shoukd stay home" -ANY doctor knows people are infectious while they are asymptomatic, for about a week.

21. De Blasio is dangerously stupid. Closing the schools should have been done weeks back.
    Lack of test kits is a serious screwup by Trump – but a state like New York is economically on par with most countries on earth – the Governor and Mayor should be blamed as well. As should California state govt. Still, it is more Trump's fault than anyone but the Chinese government.
    But what makes it clear deBlasio is dangerously stupid is him pretty much telling the public not to worry about it if they are young and healthy.
    First off, the death rate by age stats are primarily based on China's claims about the early cases in Wuhan.
    Does anyone seriously think the Chinese government which caused this pandemic by letting the wildlife markets operate AFTER THE SARS EPIDEMIC can be relied upon to give out accurate stats? How much angrier would people – both the people of China and outside – be if they thought their kids, rather than their parents or grandpatents, were likely to die? Yet de Blasio accepts this preliminary possibly very biased study like gospel.
    Additionally, he acts like it is only people with onr foot in the grave already who are in any danger, but in fact, about half the deaths are people under 65, per reports in some areas, and a 60 year old may have about a 4% chance of dying, and significant permanent lung damage with long term problems appears to be common among survivors.
    Finally, even if you do not give a damn about prople over 55, encouraging people to blow this off as he does, if his advice is followed, will still lead to a public health diaster as he will have tens of thousands of people in hospitals at the same time, thus little room for others who have other serious health problems.
    Last point, he is quoting the KNOWN cases when any competent doctor knows the known cases are a small fraction of all cases. I kniw the rightwingers downplayed it, but they are dangerously stupid too

24. Can we talk about how stupidly proud this man was for getting working people five fucking days of paid sick leave? That's like eating a pizza in front of a hungry homeless person and then feeling humble for tossing them the crust you didn't want to eat. Wow thank you for that generosity. I'm sure five days out of 365 is way more than enough.

25. Trevor Noah is so incisive and cutting without de Blasio even catching it… "Is it uncomfortable to say as a person in a leadership position, 'Hey, the people who are gonna die from this thing were the people that might have just died from anything else."

    As many have mentioned in the comments below, really short-sighted statements from de Blasio that doesn't consider that 'young, healthy' people don't live in isolation.. Now I am all for not panicking, try telling Italians who are having to decide who lives and dies without enough hospital beds that they were overreacting. De Blasio is really saying that we shouldn't be proactive and take preventative measures and instead just wait till things get worse?

    Fast forward 6 days, de Blasio recongizes we should have shut down 6 days ago. "All New Yorkers should be prepared right now for the possibility of a shelter-in-place order" as NYC crosses three times the number of cases as Hong Kong.

28. For the record, you don't say hello to someone and they die via Ebola. We are just getting to the end of a 19 month epidemic here in the east of the DRCongo and when people have followed the health guidelines they have been fine.

29. 5 days later, this has not aged particularly well. Don't go out people, for any reason other than if you are a healthcare or essential worker or to buy groceries! Seriously, don't follow de Blasio's advice, the man who refused to close schools in NYC for days and now cases have spiked almost triple overnight.

It's just like any other flu except we don't have an antidote so with in people that have a compromised immune system or are very old, catching a flu like this they are unable to allow it to run its course. If you are a person who could catch a regular flu and get over it you really have nothing to worry about.

    Please elect actual scientists and intellectuals to office please, not yes men who lie to my face and say shit like "well you get 5 sick days" with a smile when he and everyone around him knows it lasts longer than that. It's like they force us to live in their anti-reality. Just shut the fuck up, go to work, and keep that economy moving, we wouldn't want to be like Italy, would we?
