  1. I love your videos. I have been wanting to do a forest bonsai like these, but I am not sure what trees would be the best for me, and easy to get my hands on here in North Carolina USA.

  2. At the very beginning of the video you had mentioned that you were not to sure of the species of your cedar forest display. You mentioned it could be cedar of lebanon , but I couldn`t hear your next suggestion.

  3. I love watching you create forests. Bonsai is a recent interest for me, but the few small trees I have worked with so far have proven it to be an incredibly soothing pastime. My goal is to create several forests this spring/early summer including one of mixed species (I know it isn't common because it isnt aesthetically pleasing and various species require different growing conditions, but the forests found in nature here in the US are rarely only one species and I want to mimic the natural setting I grew up in of maple, oak, and beech).

  4. To me there is something special about bonsai forests. Thank you for these videos, you inspired me to try and make some of my own.
I would also love a video about how to take care of them. I wonder how you prune the roots.

    Thanks. Cheers.

  5. Could you make a video about the different common bonsai styles/forms? So one can get an overview about what kind of shapes are aesthetically pleasing. Maybe even a two part video where in the second you talk a bit about which styles are more suitable for which trees?
And a second video where you talk especially about indoor bonsai?
I think you are doing a great job! Very helpful videos! And since you are so sympathetic I like to watch your videos to learn about bonsai 🙂 thank you so much

  6. Nice job. Enjoyed your nursery walk and selection. Very good. Your assistant might need a little clip around the ears. Dropping his soil litter on the floor only makes a bigger mess – as it gets walked over adjacent surfaces and messes up the soles of your shoes. etc… but he is very talented all the same. So probably wire up the thumb and forefinger of his right hand for half a day instead….Regards Craig

  7. Hi, i just recently bought a false cypress and I don’t know how to shape it, I have begun cutting and I am afraid I have cut to much. Can you make a video on false cypress chamqecyparis law. Ellwoodii? Because this is really an impossible tree to make a bonsai out of.

  8. Hello Master Peter am Elias from Lebanon , I used to grow ( Cedar of Lebanon ) , (cedrus lebani) and they call it also Cedar of God. Seeds from the same cone will get long needles and some short needles , will try to attach a photo of them. I am pretty sure that the one you work are cedrus libani thanks for sharing

  9. Interesting that your climate is doing unusual things over there too. Climate change is having an impact right around the globe. You've all no doubt seen what it's been like over here in Australia.

  10. I have admired the glimpses of your cedar forest in past videos. These forest prod my imagination. They look Cretaceous-like. I can imagine a bonsai-sized Sauropod munching on the needles of the branches.

  11. Wonderful cedar forest! I'm hoping to harvest a number of saplings from my yard this winter and make a bonsai forest as well. I'm not sure what I've got to choose from quite yet, but hopefully there will be enough straight deciduous trees (acer saccharum, fagus grandifolia, etc.). Another choice, and probably more likely to be straight, are red pines (pinus resinosa).

Thanks for sharing! I will definitely use this information creating my own forest!

  12. @Peter Chan
Earlier you said you wire the trees to the pot cause the birds around tend to pick out the trees, but these must be to big for the birds to mess with..😉
So here, is it just an old habbit or is it another reason with the big trees?
    If i may ask?😃

  13. I visited you today for the first time, you have an amazing premises. Are we allowed to go to the field to see material there? Or is it a private area? Cheers.

  14. Master Chan you are amazing to watch you have such a vast aray of knowledge I just bought 2 of your books I will treasure them thank you so much for all of your videos and your hard work you make it very pleasurable Thank You

  15. I think such groups are very nice, because here the trees, which would not work well individually, but show the beauty of nature as a whole. Nice video Mr. Chan.

  16. I'd like to ask for advice. My mam gave me red horse-chestnut. it's exactly this:
    https://photos.app.goo.gl/h4TCSc1gmRiCHjJ7A
I cuted all leaves, about 2-3 month ago, cause they had same brown discoloration.

What can I do, to keep this tree small? Not toller then 170 cm.
Should I put it in smaller pot?
Cut only the top, and later cut branchs? Or better cut it on 2nd shown level, or 3rd?

    Best regards from Poland.
