I see a lot of negative comments about the Brian's lecture, but we should remember that he is a programmer not an aerospace engineer, so I did not tune in to learn about orbital dynamics, hardware design, etc. What he knew about and explained very well the 'Priority Tasked Scheduling' software executive for the AGC and how it functioned. In his area of expertise I think he did a good job of explaining the software design and capabilities of the AGC, as well as limitations.

7. This guy knows very little. So many factual errors as people have described below. It's not that he doesn't give enough information, it's that he says A when the fact is actually B. It's hard to listen to because you don't what else he is saying is wrong.

8. Annoyingly, the sound volume keeps reducing throughout the recording. Otherwise, it's interesting and informative.

Doubt they regretted saving 50 lbs, you can recover from a gimbal lock, you can't recover from not having enough air, or food, or a nice strong parachute on way back. 50 lbs is an enormous weight when we talk spacecraft. Lets not forget there are a bunch of other system besides the guidance computer, so if they could shave 25% weight from a system that was a 3rd redundancy already and use that weight somewhere else where it was mission critical, why not ?
