This is fantastic learning a bit of history while enjoying her music.
this is nothing like the carter scratch at all. Also lead guitar and runs were around before Carter though she defiantly was a huge innovator in Lead guitar. Also Maybelle never played with a Flatpick not to mention every recording and video of "Wildwood Flower" she uses her Finger + Thumb. This guitarist isnt bad but her style is nothing like the Carter Scratch . NPR you should be ashamed of yourselves.

You’re not showing the left hand fingering when picking out the melody to understand how that is done.
I've played guitar over 30 years but when I learned I didn't use a pick soI can fingerpick but I can't use a pick.

That's the way I learned to play by watching the guys growing up.. There are people who play so fast its just a blur. And they can hide minor imperfections by playing that fast. Of course there are some that play fast and perfect but not at the barnyard level…When you play like this there's no room for errors, not even little ones.
