My first taste of real BBQ (I grew up in No BBQ Central Valley Ca) was when my brother, who was attending school in SF, took me across the bay to Oakland to get some Flints BBQ. I was shocked. The beef links, chopped beef and that BBQ sauce. That was in the late 80’s. Flint’s is long gone and today I wouldn’t step foot in that town.
