   Most European cities have grown over time, especially in the time of the industrial revolution. So first of all because the cities are not planned the offices are mostly distributed around the city rather than in one single central business district. Secondly as said European cities had their major (area) growth phase shortly after the industrial revolution, during which time they build large industry parks for the factories. Today most of the industry is gone and new office building were build on this land.
   Which, in contrast to the USA, has led to many people going out of town for their work today rather than in

11. Living in Italy I can tell you every city (even the tiniest) has some buildings that are a big part of the history of that place. In fact building something knew requires A LOT of validations from different organisations that are meant to protect the historical architecture, and I could not be happier with that

    While our countryside is extremely beautiful it's nothing to compare to the true wilds of the other continents, we don't have massive rainforests or 8000 metre tall mountains or hidden tribes, and thanks to the ice age we don't have much biodiversity here either, but what we do have is the most visited and adored cities in the world!
    Let's not ruin them with skyscrapers that look exactly the same wherever you go.

17. Im from Philippines and Spain colonized our country for 333 years. Every city they build on our country is still standing to this day and preserved. They are all tourist attractions and popular for pre nuptial pictures. 🙂

23. European countries and homes are great. I am living in a British era made home in India currently, due to my government job and the home has been declared as heritage bungalow. It's great to live in. So peaceful.

28. It's because 99% of them look bland and unoriginal.

    Because they make you feel tiny and unimportant compared to the sociopaths that likely loom over you in their top floor office space or highrise homes.

    Because they make no effort to compliment or emulate the surrounding architecture.

    Because they make it a pain in the ass to walk around when some urban areas are just skyscrapers for miles or so with little to no smaller accessible businesses or benches where you can stop to take a break.

    Because they further cram us all into smaller spaces when there is plenty of land in almost any nation that goes completely unused, with much of it having little or no special environmental value.

    Because they literally overshadow nearby historical landmarks.

    Because the higher population density leads to increased traffic and generally less empathetic people.

    If they want to make them more common without annoying us they should either put more effort in to emulate the host countries historical architectural designs or just build the damn things underground. I'm suprissed I've yet to hear of a groundscapper or whatever you'd call it. Presumably you could make it much bigger than a skyscraper dur to it not having to worry about the wind and having the earth around it to support it along it's entire length.
