That was very cool!!!
It's a PASTEL!! Why did I never know 😵 Really appreciate 😍
Красиво. Очень понравилось. Спасибо. Я попробую нарисовать это акварелью и пастелью.
Your works just blows my mind. People tell me my paintings do the same…so that's a big compliment. It's not very often I just sit there, scratch my head and say…like how'd he do that?
So nice, thanks for the technique
I just found your channel, thank you so much! Cheers from Brazil.
quick and effective. great editing. straight to the point .deserves a lil 👍
I am interested in your bijou box you highlighted in the “Ultra compact” video. I have only been able to place 14 half pans in mine. I know yours is the old style with 4 mixing areas in the lid where mine only has 2. Is your box larger? There are a couple of more convenience colors I would like to add. Any information would be appropriated. Thank you for your time. Love your work!!!
I disagree he is a much better artist than Bob Ross who although very charming and soothing repeated the same robotic paintings. Mr Gurney paints with reality and is more creative and a much better technician.
super informative and helpful! and the finished painting is so beautiful!
👍👍👍
Wowsers!
You're from New England correct? I've seen your Hannaford video and a lot of these represent places that feel familiar in the way of the landscape and composition
Great Work
He's the master of painting landscapes using Gouache.
Ugh this video was so simple yet effective that I’m obliged to subscribe. Great content!
Your book on on Color and Light just came!!! I am spell bound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forget everything else I was going to do!!!!
Hi Mr. James, great job, thanks to share with us your painting tips.
Your paintings always look like photographs. Nice Job!!
Thank you for your very inspiring videos. You are unique and gifted with a real love of the world around you, just as it is. You make a beautiful image of places which many artists would pass by whilst looking for the perfect chocolate box scene.
A good choice of a small work to show a most essential treatment of light effect in a painting. What's not discussed here is your wonderful brushwork – a bit of dry brush along the road, breaks in shadows over the snow, reflected light etc, etc. I've always told fellow plein-air painters: '…always paint more than just what you see..'
Hey bro, love the piece, well done..but if the lightened area is giving off 45 degree angle effects of light..wouldnt the light source be the top left not the middle?
It is really a previlege watch You painting and listening to tour knowledge. Thank you
What a concise way of showing how light and value work together! Thank you sir!
Really, really great. I always learn so much watching you paint, James!
really good lesson.
Hi James. Would you mention any favorite dinosaur/bird anatomy books or references? (looking to improve my understanding of the musculature)
Love your videos. Always some impressive artwork to look at. Thank you for sharing your process.
Could you do some with oil paint.
Why do people feel the need to put down people like Bob Ross in order to like Mr. Gurney? I don’t understand that. I can appreciate Bob Ross for the joy he brought to millions of people with his simplistic, pop-art style of painting…while also and separately understanding that Mr. Gurney is more of a classically-trained artist who has perfected the craft. There is no need to insult Bob Ross who did contribute a lot to our culture. Both of them are painters…just like both Taylor Swift and Pavarotti are both entertainers. That they were miles apart in method, style, training, and skill doesn’t mean we need to insult one over the other. I don’t get why people feel the need to do that. I doubt we’d ever hear James Gurney call Bob Ross nasty names. This is what I hate about comments sections; they allow us to see just how nasty some people can be.
Amazing lesson. Thank you so much! It seems so simple to get a good head start on creating an amazing piece, it's actually encouraging to have a go. Brilliant.
Love your work. Great stuff.
