Practice timing between each snare in a beat, you dont have to rhyme with every single drop, if you emphasize every couple snare, then that allows more lyrics and more opportunities for intricate delivering, what i do is i freestyle as im going along with the beat, usually i listen to the beat a few times before to get a good grip on the instrumentals, and i improve as im going along in the song, i get one verse down, and then i see what rolls off the tongue best for the 2nd verse, trust me free styling to it is like training wheels, if you keep going your brain will automatically give you a selection of transition words you can use, idk if this helps but this is from my personal experience.

  27. For me the hardest thing about flow is not just trying to stay on beat, but stay on beat in a way that sounds natural
    Like, sometimes when I'm writing, then rapping to hear if it'll flow, if the line is too long, I rap quicker, if it's too short, I slow down which ends up sounding awkward.

  33. I think the hardest thing for me to remember in building on my flow is the last point you made about breaths. When I have mid tempo or slower flows its no issue to know where to put them in; I find it's usually when I'm playing around with double times flows that I have a harder time in the writing process to place breaths in places where they sound natural

  42. To be honest the hardest part of learning rap flow for me was that I was tryna find a flow that would suit the type of person I am with the music i wanted to rap on – like – trippie red type beats and using the same flow he would on a beat.. I don't know if i'm making sense
