  3. I'm so glad they talked about how messy Windows 10's UI situation is. And things like the Start Menu bing search (fucking hate that!). I've been sending feedback periodically for awhile now when I get annoyed with things. Like trying to use File History (stupid name for backups) and system image backup. Or set up a home network. I haven't had to do that in a long time, tried to do it and discovered Homegroup is gone even though it still appears in a few menus. Infuriatingly stupid and completely unacceptable from Microsoft of all companies. They've been adding all these intrusive features people don't want and just leaving everything else unfinished.

    We need to start a mass feedback campaign and get them to fix their shit. We should make a list of requests/demands and just flood their feedback system. I wouldn't say I'm anti Windows 10 like some are. But the thing I hate the most is how they're trying to overly streamline (aka dumb down) the whole interface and hide everything from you. They're trying to make it more accessible for the 3 people out there who don't know how to use a computer, which is fine, but I don't see why it has to be one or the other. There are plenty of examples of good interfaces that are clean and sleek without sacrificing any depth or functionality. All it takes is an extra dropdown menu, checkbox, etc. There used to be an option to change everything back to the old style (not sure if it's still there), but what I would like to see is the old style interface and menus paired with the new aesthetics. I like the look of 7 and 10 a lot more than XP and previous, but like LInus was saying the new menus are terrible and force you to click through 2-3 extra pages to find what you're after.

  14. I hate that Windows 8 has been abandoned. I've got an Asus Vivotab that I love using for art, and Windows 8 is actually really great on it. It won't hurt to move to Linux I guess, but I just haven't been bothered.

  15. At 29:30 when Linus says DO NOT USE Windows-7 …. I say WHY NOT? I NEVER connect to the Internet on Win-7 anyways! (i.e. I have a custom non-connected Internal Domain at home). Since I only use my Win-7 systems for personal and scientific exploration and ALL Internet use is on a COMPLETELY SEPARATE NETWORK using Android tablets only, I don't have to worry about Windows security at all!

    I like Windows-7 and it works AWESOMELY with my older apps and I will NEVER give it up !!! I say keep it on an internal-only domain network and use separate systems for your internet connections!

    AND … For you Windows 8.1 gurus, when it finally goes to update heaven, you can disable it's always-connect-to-internet requirement via registry key modifications and some well-placed HexEdit mods on certain key files and then CONTINUE to use Windows 8.1 for all eternity!

    For everyone else, buy a MAC or just run a long-term stable distro of Linux and if necessary create from a scratch compile (i.e. your own source code compilation output to a custom binary) and include your favourite or KEY hardware-specific drivers INTO the Linux OS kernel itself for maximum speed and security!

  16. OK still running Win 7 on this machine. But my new machine I built last year I set up for dual boot. Win 10 for games, and Linux Mint for everything else. So Microsoft can collect all the data it wants on my playing WoW and Diablo 2 but that's all it gets.

  22. 36:50 there's no easier and more practical charging connector than the good old coaxial power connector. As a matter of fact, any coaxial powerl connector as thisk as or thicker than 3.5mm is godlike. It's so fast and easy to put it in and take it out. Same thing goes with headphone jacks. Concerned about insufficient rings on the connector for data transfers? Fear not, anything is doable to compensate with that. So please bring back the coaxial power connector and also the TRS connector for headphones in smartphones. Make these two mandatory in all portable devices and I'll be happy.

  27. Luke, the problem with Win10, i had a similar issue and it was the SSD. Not sure is your issue but works for me. To change just go to the sound icon on the taskbar one click, your going to see the volume option bar, on top your going to see the output device and a arrow, click the arrow and is a drop box and you can change the output device.

  29. WoW ban: could have to do with some sort of mouse macro program, like with Razer, or some obscure security program which can possibly inject DLLs into running programs, as was often done for map hacks in Diablo 2.

  30. I also had compatiability issues after upgrading from Windows 8.1 to 10 so i changed back and it worked fine then later the same issues came up again so i went to Windows 10 and it fixed it then came back yet again and well eventually it has been ironed out. Not sure what the issue ever was.

  32. microsoft is now copying ubuntu's awesome an easy to use system and windows 8.1 and 10 are a complete rip off of ubuntu/andriod look and feel. which has ruined windows 8.1, 10 for me. i still using windows 7 pro since it still easy to use without cortana opening web pages or trying to instead of finding the file on your computer.

  41. Windows 10 is such a burning piece of garbage it is amazing in many levels.
    Search is borked. Peoples data was borked. Editing file properties borked. I don't know what hasn't been broken at some point.

    It's actually quite common problem. Back-end being desynchronized with the front-end. Yea, sure, long passwords are an overkill but in the era of passwords managers, why not use them anyways?

    As for bans. WOWs ain't the only one with such policy. Wargaming is there as well. They claim you cheat, you ask "how? what did I do wrong? which program/mod triggered it?" nope. You cheat, trust us, privacy policy.
    They won't even provide you with the chat message the moderator banned you for. But then they can post an article saying "We have banned 9285 cheaters, we strive to improve our game!"
