If someone can connect directly to YOU or get an temporarily connection with you through an service or website, just like the Internet do when you're visiting web sites or other services, a VPN WON'T protect you from getting malware or being hacked. As long as the bad people/website have a direct connection with you, they won't need your real IP – after connecting with you they will get your real IP and maybe a lot of other information, so stay away from potentially dangerous sites and services, even if connected using VPNs. Stay secure 🙂
