  1. Thanks Richard.. I am having an issue on Router 2, that being, the Guest Wireless on Router 2 will not provide "internet access", I think it will not provide an IP address on Guest? Any suggestions? tks

  2. Very well done and informative video. I want the network of the second router to be secure and isolated from the first router. I will have the first router using normal and guest networks. How can I set the second router so it cannot see anything on the first router's networks and vice versa? Thanks.

  3. rEaD tHiS>> you would get m ore speed using cat7 highly isolated low interferance gold grounded cable . 25 f for bout 12 bucks, EVERYTHING ELSE he knows his Sh*T REALLY WELL. but i am not advertizing i dont have a store, i just aperson that decided one day to say why not try cat6 and 7 and i did and only cause i had the idea that maybe mAYBE IT WOULD DO SOMETHING WELL. https://gyazo.com/08653f31d2ea0c0703b9ea59589c8fb2 THIS LINKY. IS A GIFFY OF THE CABLE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE APROX WHAT IT COST AND EITHER EBAY OR AMAZON OR W/E THIS FLAT CABLE doubled my speed AND I AM PULLING MORE THAN 32 MBPS= I DID ON CAT 5 AND 85MBPS ON =CAT 7 EVEN dESPITE LONGER 4 TIME LONGERLONGER CABLE

  4. Question. I have a new router wireless set-up in my house and my VPN service is totally messed up over wifi. It loses connection, drops wireless and generally doesn’t work. VPN company has tried to help, but nothing. Not sure why, but it is a newer wifi setup from my cable company. I do have another router (a good one) that worked fine with my VPN. If I follow this video will it solve my problem, or will being hooked into the newer router still cause me problems? Thanks for this video and your help.

  5. Thanks very well explained…didn’t sound commercialized, well thought out presentation and at a pace everyone could follow. Worthy of a thumbs up and a subscription. Looking for more of your great content….

  6. Fantastic explanation. Finally I can figure out why my modem keeps rebooting itself when a router is connected. I took a networking course in school but didn’t get this detailed explanation or example.
    Thank you

  7. Can I do the same using a MAC laptop?
Also when you reconfigured the tp link how was it connected to the internet? You connected it to your computer not to a modem. I’m confused. Sorry I’m not at all tech savvy but I have to do this for my WiFi at home. I need to learn. Thank you.

  8. Good video, im having problem at 16mins, are you disabling the DCHP on the main router thats already working or the new router? When i log in TP link "dashboard" it will not let me disable DCHP on the new router, i click save, nothing happens only flashes back to "save" option again.

  9. I have a TP-Link Wireless ADSL modem+router and have access to statically assigned ethernet port (of my institute LAN, whose static IP address, default gateway, subnet mask and DNS servers I know). Is it possible to connect the modem+router to the LAN to access WiFi on my laptop? My laptop does not have an ethernet port. Thank you 🙂

  10. Hi Richard,

Great video and for the most part easy enough to follow however I will admit that my IT skills can let me down at times.
I am struggling with improving my internet signal via WiFi throughout our home and even though it’s small it appears to drop connection easily between rooms. We are all on one level so no stairs. Apparently there is 40 Mbps coming down the line but my speed test reading via lan cable into my laptop is only 26mbps.
When I joined my two routers together should my secondary router have the internet symbol illuminated and not just the 2.4 and 5 ghz indicators?

  11. my netgear droped speed to 140 down why i have the 500 i cany find the old firmware on port one im getting 145 and 12 up when i plug in to xbox same like i get 490 down and 26 up i dont get it is it the firmware update

  12. Is there a way have the second router use the same SSID as the first one, such that one we dont have to switch back and forth between the two SSIDs individually when moving in/out of range.

  13. Hi Richard. The moment I deselect DHCP on the second router the router cannot be seen anymore. It says unidentified network. So I cannot log in to change the IP adress. What am I doing wrong?

  14. I have two routers one is a linksys one and other is the tplink the same one in this video but the linksys router can run my tplink router as secondary when i connect the tplink to the wan port. The tplink does not runs my linksys router. But when i followed this guide and turned off the DHCP server on my linksys and connected the linksys by using the lan port it worked. Why is that so and does it makes a difference when using either lan or wan.
