  1. Funny stuff is that, when i was buying my wrx, I accidentally called the forester and the outback station wagons and like half the dealership turned their heads like i was cursing or something lmao the sales person was like you mean our crossovers? I was like nah they are just wagon with a small lift.

  2. Because Europeans are more sensible, and make smarter choices than Americans. Americans prefer slow, poor handling vehicles that hog up a lot of petrol and are completely impractical.
I am keeping my Kia Soul hatchback with the 6 speed manual and my 6 speed Golf GTI

  3. To much snow up here on canada for a car. I have a car right now and love it and always used to hate SUVs but I really think I need to buy one now that I moved up north because in the winter I could barely get out of my driveway

  4. Should I buy a wagon?
Well, Wagons handle better, in most cases have more space, handle better, every automotive journalist loves them, are more fuel efficient (If developed right), keeps their value better, and cost less.

No thanks ill take a SUV. American Logic.

  5. I mean to me they make sense. You want the sporty look. With the space. So feels like a sedan has the room of an suv (crossover). Maybe making them a little cheaper and more accessible to us peasants lol might make me want one. And definitely the Subaru is king in the US. Many people love that brand period.

  6. Why is nobody talking about the emasculation? In the 1970s, we had "soccer moms" hauling around the kids in the station wagon, while dad drove the coupe to work. By the 1990s, we now had stay-at-home dads, who felt more butch dropping off kids at school with an SUV. The sales surge was further driven by the relaxed fuel-economy standards for anything with "truck" suspension that might qualify as a work vehicle. Cadillac found that the SUV represented "wicked excess" better than town cars.

And the feeling continues today. American buyers of wagons are people who intentionally resist the SUV image because they boast a "European" attitude. People who are "preppy" over "sports enthusiasts" (Think Birkenstocks). These are people who never assigned a gender to the wagon. They thought of it as a longer hatchback (Golf Wagon, vs Jetta Wagon) Subaru was the true crossover, taking the "wagon market" mindset into 4WD for the mountain estates in places like Santa Cruz, while still not giving in to SUV culture. So now you have the VW Alltrack answering that narrow market.

  7. "Station Wagon", "Estate" or "Avant" whatever you call them they are great cars, and certainly are not only for familys.

They have a low center of gravity so they handle like a sports car.

Many have supercar levels of power so they are fun to drive.

In the city they are as comfortable as a sedan.

And on road trips they have the capacity of an SUV without the horrible top heavy feeling.

They are a sportscars with the ability to put your luggage such as skis inside when you go away on the weekend.

  8. Hey you guys! Americans actually LOVE wagons. They are the hottest trends on the market for the last two decades. They're disguised in cool words, like SUV and Crossovers, and have a little higher suspension. But in reality, they are still station wagons.
