Most stores in my area have put limits on the number you can buy of certain items, which seems to be helping. I am hoping that after this is over with, people will try to have a bit extra at home. It is always a good idea in case of bad weather, natural disaster, illness, etc. I am glad I have extra, bought in December, and I can offer some to others in need now.
Wow thats alot of storing
Nice pantry. Would like to have one but can't because I live in an apartment.
Maybe…don't shop at ALL if you have that much stuff….all I hear is "I want." Some people NEED the things you're stockpiling and in turn are becoming sold out. Not to mention the fact that you're not social distancing and potentially aiding in the spread of the virus. SMH
I know it is a little late to get started… but we have this food supply calculator that can come handy: https://www.theatomicbear.com/blogs/atomic-bear/food-storage-calculator
I live on a fixed income, but I also live with my son. However, I still have a grocery budget that I adhere to for the most part. I spend about $270 to $330 a month on groceries. I also buy groceries once a month. It saves me having to go out shopping every week. (due to health, and largely because I 'hate' shopping).
I buy ingredients to 'make' meals, I rarely buy pre-made foods. Even my french fries are homemade. So when I buy food, I buy 2 to 3 of an item that will last the month. I always have some sort of pasta type food all the time. So I buy at least 3 bottles of tomato juice. (when I owned my own home in a small town where I'm from, I grew my own produce). So buying 2-3 items in a month is my "stocking up". Hoarding is buying out the whole shelf of tp! (as for tp, I buy two 9 rl pkgs of tp. One for upstairs and one for downstairs…..that's NOT hoarding, nor stocking up). Anyways…..buying for the month, and cooking from scratch, I believe contributes to affording to 'stock up'.
imo: if you just buy two of ingredients will contribute to your "stock pile" for the future. Now's the time to change your thinkin'…the difference between you and people who prepare for the shtf scenario, is we were raised with that thinking, and you weren't. Not a fault, just a need to rethink things now.
The great food collapse is coming. Prepare for 6-12 months. A few weeks is not enough.
Get formula even if you breastfeed cause under stress your milk can dry out. So grab one just in case
Did you special order your containers in your pantry?
I have watched several videos on getting prepared recently. Store only what you will eat.
This is nuts! If everyone buys like you are (given I’m sure it’s taken you time) it’s why the stores are so low on everything! Please buy what you need and don’t hoard.
Any tip for someone who's renting and doesn't have space for a freezer?
Just want to quickly say when it comes to coronavirus that people, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GO TO THE SUPERMARKET just as usual.
This stockpiling food is being a nightmare. Coronavirus does not mean that you won’t be able to go to the supermarket. You can go if you do not have the virus.
The only reason why we all have to stockpile food is because of all of the people that are panic buying everything.
Please think TWICE before you buy the whole supermarket.
Peace ✌🏼
Ps. Love the video.
I thought Macys sold clothing……
Wow, it appears that you're set for the next Ice age.
Not really related to this video, but if out of hand/shower soap, use shampoo. Hey, it does the job of cleaning your hair so it should clean the rest of you!
Try avocado oil Costco $19 best deal high smoke point compared to Canola or olive oil. Not a process oil , lot better for you than canola. Started stocking up the end of January, we will need a supply through August order everything online now don't go to the grocery stores. Wear masks if you can get them out in public! Most people in Asian countries are wearing masks. New studies say it's airborne in droplet and aerosol form, meaning it can hang in air for up to 3 hours
Thank You For sharing this idea, And by the way Ilove watching your video , I find them Really Helpful specially for mom with 5 kids
Wow! You have everything! This is amazing. I really enjoyed seeing your storage room.
I have enough. I may not have all that I would want. My mom lives right up the street and we will help each other. I think there's a difference between be prepared and panic shopping.
The problem is the people that have plenty keep stockpiling and those of us that need food can’t get it. They take it as soon as the restock the store.
Great information! Thank you!
Wowww this lady has like 20 or more of the same thing… She got like a 6 month supply of everything! My only concern is what happens when some of this stuff goes bad while others are going with out… Because apparently people like this lady buys out the store lol
I'm going to grow my own milk, raise cabbages and become a farmer!!!😁
That's for two weeks?????? Sheesh. We in the west have serious issues.
Greed selfishness none of us will have any to feed like healthcare workers and seniors shame on all of ur hoardings…
where did you find your containers?
don't get ibuprofen folks, it only aggravates the virus!
Thank you for a great video 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
We have two refrigerators. One in the garage and one in the house. Both have very small freezers. I am thinking about buying a smallish chest freezer to store extra frozen foods but what happens to all that food if we loose power?
Thank you for this, my friend and I have been talking about doing something similar and this helps us.
The fresh fruits and vegi, don't you need to disinfect those? They may have been handled by the virus carriers at the store.
What do you mean you “go in on a cow”?
60% of American are massively overweight and could easily fast for longer than 2 weeks anyway. Infact most people could fast for at least 2 weeks. So if your running low on food just feed your children and fast yourself.
In Canada I find fruits and veggies are okay, same with bread, meat. Those shelves are full but frozen veggies, perogies, fries, pizza, etc are empty. Cans and hand soap, toilet paper are gone.
Food is still there but it's just the shelf life and frozen section that is empty rn.
Rice is completely sold out. Pasta is getting there.
Also, aside from making homemade vegetable and chicken stock, I keep on hand vegetable bouillon cubes because vegetable broth cartons are so expensive and take up so much room in my small pantry.
All year long I aim to prevent food waste. If apples begin turning soft, I either dice them and cook them in oatmeal or make applesauce. During the winter when my basil isn’t growing and I buy a container from the store, I use any extra by making pesto. Overripe bananas used to be put in the freezer for smoothies but since I’m allergic to raw bananas now, I make banana bread with them and freeze it. Celery leaves, the portion nearest the root, and any celery that is starting to get ugly, I slice and freeze for soups. I freeze all leftover rice, vegetables, bits of meat, etc. Most goes into soups, but little bits of meat and vegetables are great to add to scrambled eggs. Leftover eggs are made into breakfast burritos. Mushrooms that are going bad are made into mushroom gravy. You can also dehydrate them. Berries that are starting to get mushy are made into chia jam. Oranges are sliced and frozen for smoothies. Leftover gravy is frozen in a container for future need. Every time you have leftover, just add to the container. Same goes for pasta sauce. I’m going to start making coffee ice cubes with leftover coffee for iced coffee and smoothies. Stale bread and little heels are toasted and ground in food processor and frozen as bread crumbs.
What do crakers have to do with the Flu?
A good video weeks or months ago would have been WHEN to prepare .
I’m so happy I found you! I’m really excited to start your food storage plan. I was wondering if you had a grocery list for us beginners maybe you could add it in at the bottom. 😍
Freezing loses folate/folic acid in vegetables.
Thank you so much for this video. You have calmed me down hugely. I am such an idiot because for the last 6 months or so I have been meal planning really successfully… but as soon as all “this craziness” started I completely forgot about meal planning in my panic that there was just nothing in the shops here in the U.K.. you have just made me realise that instead of grabbing random stuff like I have been doing, I just need to calm down and work out what I can plan from my (very limited) pantry and freezer and you have made me realise that even if I can’t get anything else now, I will be just fine… thank you for calming me down and making me see that all I need to do is take it back to the simple basics that I have been doing for months and just see what I can make from what I already have. ❤️
Olive coconut oil best to cook with. I use almond coconut flour
This message is for everybody who read it: AVOID ANTI-INFLAMMATORY MEDECINES WITH THIS CORONAVIRUS. The germs keep on developping with anti- inflammatories like Ibuprofen, Ketum, Ketoprofene, Voltarene etc… Take care and have rest!
Thank you for this video. Lots of informative tips and by God's grace I have lots of these items on hand already.
