  1. Hi Steve. I know you guys are a big fan of [kyno] I own it but i do not see how you can can reduce the proxy size using it. is there a way to lower the resolution or is it just a fixed one?

  2. Thank you for another great presentation and very grateful for your recent livestream. Thank you for answering my questions as well on there. I always recommend Ripple Training in my FCPX user group.

  3. Maybe is a better idea to consolidate the HEVC library and the compress it, and upload it to frame io. You skip the step of uploading the HEVC media too.

  4. Great tut. Got tons of HEVC 4K files from my Mavic 2 Pro but they're useless on MBP 2015.

  5. Thank you for the video! Is there any way to protect your footage being misused or distributed by the editors? Maybe to send it with a watermark and then to relink with the original files?

  6. First! Editors don’t work! Bye!

  7. Hi Steve, what happens if you have many folders where clips have the same name (e.g.:day1/MOV0001.mov, day2/MOV0001.mov). Will Final Cut relink correctly or is there a risk it would replace each clip with the first found?

  8. Brilliant tutorial as always Steve. First-time commenter long time watcher 🙂 The most important question for me however is where did you get those flashing lights for your Lego Palace Cinema in the background???

  9. Excellent tips, as always. Just bought both tutorials. Thanks

  10. Thanks Steve! Love seeing this and learning the workflow.

  11. How do you track version history doing this, to make sure the current editor is always working on the current version, especially if you have more than two editors working on the same project? I was wondering if you added the user name, date, and time to the FCPX library title, it might help, but would that break everything?

  12. Brilliant tutorials – Thanks guys. Question: Will XML files not work even quicker thereafter, with backward and forward turnarounds between editors, if you both have the same initial project and proxy files?

Hi Steve, great tutorial. Do you have any tutorials regarding best compressor settings. I have started backing up my clients videos with their own Google Drive accounts. What settings would you recommend for best quality and file type. Should I be using Apple devices, sharing devices Options, MP4, HEVC, MOV. Please let me know.

This is a great workflow. Would this work with h.264 files? Yes I know they’ll be larger and am okay with that.

  15. Nice vid thank. you. However, do you color correct too on the proxies?

  16. Awesome solution! And, yes, I purchased the Media Management Tutorial (even though I've been using FCP X for a LOOOOOONG time now).

  17. This will be extremely useful, I can keep my source media on the slow external hard drive and create smaller copies for editing on the faster internal one where there isn't a huge amount of space. It's a few steps to go through in preparation and I'll still have to relink the media to the slow drive so producing the final master file will no doubt take a bit longer, but it's a viable solution until I can get myself a fast large capacity ssd to work off.

  18. Hi Steve, wow, this is such a great solution, just hoping that in 10.4.9 or 10.5. or whatever is next, a variable sliding scale proxy method is set up, you would think that in the Covid-19 WFH era [work from home] that X would have been updated with a bullet proof system… This is great, just way too many steps and leaves too much room for idiots to stuf it up…Fingers crossed for an update for proxy workflow….the only real bugbear of X….

  19. Great video can this workflow be done with other codecs?

  20. Ничего не понятно, но очень интересно. 🙃

  21. Is there no "git"/VCS for FCPX for sharing with editors? This workflow looks like how people coded in the 90s. 😉

Appreciate the tutorial Steve, but man is this a lot of steps just to create proxies. Too bad fcp couldn't just allow you to adjust the size of your proxies in program.
