as designed, it either did not stay up over my nose, or slid up over my eyes…. Christi Lutgen's suggestion to turn the narrow side around is as close as it gets to being a "publicly acceptable covering of your face", but still is a fairly poor fit. It was a good exercise in making something, but not (for me) wearable as presented, and fairly poor fitting when inverted so that it actually stayed on my face…. Suggestion: show putting it on, and it's fit…. and for me, this means "keep looking…"
Need a demo on that square denim mask. Will not work for me. Weird.
Where is the pattern?
This is the worst fitting mask I have ever seen! It doesn’t fit any way you put it.
I did not understand how to wear the second mask???

I took a lot of time trying to design this the exact way you did this and it didn't even look like a mask. Everything was too loose and I had spent an hour working on something that I can't even wear. It looked ridiculous and making it was even worse.
Cloth masks only protect others from your droplets, the virus is still breathed in right through the cloth. If you add a level 1500 filter to your mask you can protect yourself too! One filter can be cut into squares for up to 20 masks! —-> https://amzn.to/2VBBDeQ
Interesting?? Looks to bulky to provide protection? Looks so messy too! The middle will move n drive the wearer crazy!! Maybe rethink this? I will try to draw some inspiration? Be safe!
Tried reversing the loop around the narrow area instead of the wide area ..and put that over my nose and the other on the bottom….fits great :))
PLEASE make sure you use melt blown fabric when making masks to protect YOURSELF as well as others; It is the middle layer. It is easy to find in your home, usually used in the cheaper reusable bags. Melt-blown fabric is used in surgical masks and ALL paper masks. Seeing so many mask videos that are not explaining that a mask without melt blown fabric will NOT protect YOU. https://youtu.be/JvntOtfApjo
Thanks! But it doesn't fit well and it can not filter the virus. The N95 masks I bought from ojomask.com can conform to your nose and cover the face very well. Check it out if you need.
I love all mask makers. I support health care workers. I cannot love that we are filling in for our federal government’s failure to plan for the pandemic that they had notice of in January, and their putting profits ahead of the needs of our health workers:
“In January and February, when the administration had space to prepare for the flood of coronavirus cases to come, exports of critical supplies like facemasks and ventilators jumped 22 percent, while imports shrunk 12.7 percent. In particular, exports to China went up as high as 1,094 percent.” https://prospect.org/coronavirus/unsanitized-katie-porter-talks-supply-chains-and-bailouts/
Yet when other countries saw the situation, they put their factories to work producing
masks. Look at Taiwan: https://www.democracynow.org/2020/4/3/taiwan_coronavirus_response
And now, states are competing against each other and even being blocked by the federal
authorities when they try to buy needed medical supplies. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/as-feds-play-backup-states-take-unorthodox-steps-to-compete-in-cutthroat-global-market-for-coronavirus-supplies/2020/04/11/609b5d84-7a70-11ea-a130-df573469f094_story.html Wonderful that so many sewers have stepped up to free up n95 and surgical masks for health workers. Let’s think about why we’ve had to. Share this information along with your best mask patterns.
Don’t waste your time making this because it doesn’t fit right at all. Very poor design!
very easy instructions for not having a sewing machine. thank you
Hmmm…….
Very informative. Thank you!
I had an idea for homemade mask. Thought I'd go to Walmart and buy the cotton material brand new, not use it for anything but the masks. After cutting, and sewing in the strap, it would work well…. And it would have the added benefit of an elastic band at the top, to help hold it onto the face, one that says either Hanes or Fruit of the Loom! 😁😁😁
I made one from heavy denim. When you gather the ties at the bottom, it creates a little bubble of air inside while the edges are sealed. I also take a Kleenex and put it over my nose at the top and tuck the edges on the sides of my nose. Protects me a little better.
it is not protective
Wait a Moment!
Is that "Face Mask" a Man's Thing?
Why would you even???
A big sag below the chin…
