Forcing your computer to shut down while an update is still in progress is like yanking someone while they're on a brain surgery.

The year was 1989. I was playing some games on the brand new Dos 4.0. I finished playing and powered down the computer. Then had immediate panic when I realized I forgot to park the hard drives…..

Basically the moral of the story is to get rid of Windows.

Hi Linus, also if you have a RAID 0 or RAID 10 and turn off the Windows write-cache buffer flushing in the RAID you gain more speed but in case of a power loss or improper shutdown you increase the risk of loosing data or even loosing a disk especially with SSD's 🙂 Never turn off the write-cache buffer flushing on a RAID 0 or RAID 10 if you do not have a proper UPS
I'm thankful for my uncle who was just here visiting my dad and I from another state. I asked him to buy a new UPS for me (the old one stopped working as, as soon as the power went off, it's power was gone), as I had asked my dad for it, and he said he didn't have the spare cash to buy it. So now I got a new one.
That's why i bought a UPS when i lived at my parents.

If you're shutting down your computer anyway then you're not using it so why would you hang around waiting for the updates to finish? It shuts down after the updates are done so just turn the screen off and go to be/do something else.
I did it to my Apple for 9 years. I have a new MacBook now and don't plan on doing but I'm just sayin…

Yep, I live in thunderstorm country and am lucky enough to have had to install Windows 10 twice in the last year and a half. Reminds me of stories my great grandfather used to tell about having to change flat tires three times during a twenty mile trip over dirt roads in the 1920s. Obviously driving a car has come a long way. Maybe Microsoft will get out of the 1920s one of these days when it comes to updating their bubble gum and chicken wire system.
