  1. As Europe's largest statue, The Motherland Calls is not only a spectacular sight, but also has an important story behind it. What are your thoughts on this memorial complex?

  2. Normandy is nothing compare to war in stalingrad

  3. Just to put into perspective for the beloved "UStatetians":
All the US casualties (military + civilians) in the ENTIRE WWII times 2.3x; well that's only the number of the military casualties in JUST ONE BATTLE for the USSR in the SAME WAR!!!

Now take your time and REALLY think about it.

  4. Родина-мать or Moksha – the woman with the sword and with baby in her arm. Killed men lie beneathe.

  5. The statue that encourage war !

  6. The flame of peace…built by the sowjet union. What an irony.

  7. Just looking at this clip of Mamayev Kurgan and the statue Rodina-mat' zovyot gives me chills. I wonder what it would be like to visit this place. My grandfather went to Moscow in the late 60's for postgraduate studies. He told us that the Soviets were incredibly patriotic!

The war was sold to the Russian people as the "GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR" . Stalin knew it was a better applause line than "THE WAR TO SAVE COMMUNISM" and would be a better cover story to obtain support and aid from the Western powers as "Allies".

  13. My grandfather brother gone here in Stalingrad. He was 22.

  14. It's not twice as tall as Statue of Liberty…. It's slightly shorter. Impressive regardless.

  15. The Motherland Calls is the most awe inspiring statue I have ever seen.

  16. A far more awesome and impressive statue than the statue of liberty. The pose struck is so fantastically full of emotion; I love it!

  17. National Geographic is US media, in fact it's the enemy of Russian, christian orthodox and all europeans nations. USA is an empire., their goal is to loot and creating puppet states in Europe and around the world.

  18. Statue of Liberty: random statue gifted by France to represent immigration or something sappy like that
The Motherland calls: Giant memorial dedicated to the millions of men who died defending their homeland
Now guess which one is better known?
