Hi Pete your totally right…. The last four Europe Albums are amazing to me
My Ranking:
1.War of Kings
2.Last look at Eden
3.Walk the earth
4.Bag of Bones
…..Killer Material
My favourite band
Wings Of Tomorrow is such a killer album-Aphasia is an awesome instrumental.
I agree with most of the list except that I think Start From The Dark should be above The Final Countdown and Out Of This World.
As for the Prisoners album, Girl From Lebanon, All Or Nothing, and Halfway To Heaven are some great tunes.
1: Start from the dark
2: last look at Eden
3: secret society
1. Out of this world, 2. Start from the dark, 3. The final countdown, 4. Prisoners in paradise, 5. Bag of bones
just stopped by to remind you how bad europe was as evidenced by the squalor of their sellout song
Hi Pete , thanks for turning me on to the new Europe albums, sorry I missed them, didn't know they were still making music.
So far loving
Secret society ( even though last on your ranking)
War of kings
Last look at Eden
Still checking out the other 3 .thanks again
You ought to sheck out Live at Sweden Rock with guests Scott Gorham on the Thin Lizzy cover Jailbreak and Michael Schenker on the UFO classic Lights out. Almost unplugged also have some cover songs of their influenses great album where they have a string ensamble as support.
I loved Europe in the Kee era Out of this world is really good and most of the songs on Prisoners in Paradise are great a good album to end with. Then came the comeback, and to do it with a totally different style in stead of doing it safe I mean the more albums they release the better they get. So I would rank them the same way, in my opinion you nailed it. Great band.
They sold out themselves with "The Final Countdown" even worse than Metallica with Black.
Their debut is good. "Seven Doors Hotel" and "In the Future to Come" are amazing hard rock songs.
"Prisoners in Paradise" was the first Europe album I ever heard. The title song is very good but I can't remember other songs at all.
Fun fact:Europe won the Swedish Rock championship that was sponsored by a huge evening newspaper.
And the no 1 price was a record deal.
They won with the song 7 doors hotel.
That event only lived on about 10 years after that.👍😊
11. Secret Society
10. Prisoners in Paradise
09. Bag of Bones
08. War of Kings
07. Walk the Earth
06. The Final Countdown
05. Start From the Dark
04. Last Look at Eden
03. Out of This World
02. Europe
01. Wings of Tomorrow
Caught them of their Aussie tour promoting Walk The Earth, two hours of ball crunching rock. Awesome live band and their recent albums are all killer.
Even though I have heard The Final Countdown so many times I still love listening to it. Europe is and has been a very special band to me since I was a little kid when The Final Countdown album first came out. I love their first era big time of 1983-1991 and I also love their second most recent era of 2004- up to now alot. My list would have to be.
11. Secret Society
10. Bag Of Bones
9. Last Look At Eden
8. Prisoners In Paradise
7. War Of Kings
6. Walk The Earth
5. Start From The Dark
4. Out Of This World
3. The Final Countdown
2. Wings Of Tomorrow
1. Europe self titled 1983
The first two albums have been my favorites for over thirty years and are some of the greatest albums ever that I have listened to. Sometimes Wings Of Tomorrow is my favorite, but at this moment the debut is my favorite. Those two albums are MASTERPIECES to me. Europe should not be judged on just one song. They have many phenomenal songs that in my opinion are better than their two biggest hits The Final Countdown and Carrie. Europe in my opinion should have been even bigger than they were. They are still putting out amazing music and I wish more people would give them a chance. The current lineup is the exact lineup that did The Final Countdown album. I love both guitar players that Europe has had. Both John Norum and Kee Marcello are Phenomenal guitar players. My favorite is John Norum , but I do love Kee Marcello's guitar playing on Out Of This world and Prisoners In Paradise albums alot. Europe even played live as six piece band in Sweden The Final Countdown and Rock The Night on December 31 1999 to bring in 2000 with both John Norum and Kee Marcello. It actually would have been cool if they stayed as a six piece band.
Out of all their albums I still think hands down that The Final Countdown is by far their best. So many great tunes on that album and the title track is basically the anthem for 80's rock music. This is the album that got me started listening to rock and metal and although their recent albums are pretty great they don't match up to the greatness and overall success of the final countdown album. Just a shame that the title track is heavily overplayed and made people get tired of hearing it, not the best track on that album though but a perfect opener
i did explore few of their albums. very good indeed. I will explore more. I still think that The final countdown album is very good. Thank you Pete. Your passion for music, makes me more passionate about it. I wish I could live forever so I can dig everything…
Another great video, I'm amazed by the number of people who think melodic hard rock bands suck, there's going to be always great bands and no so great in any style of music. I know this type of music was big in the 80s until 1991 roughly. I was a young man in the 90s, but I I grew up listening lots of 70s and 80s band. For me Europe is a great band and there were many, Treat, Harem Scarem, Steelheart, and many more. I like your videos because like me you listen current music by old and new bands, because there are many people that are still stucked listening to the first 2 or 3 albums of their favourite bands. Even though I like blues and some jazz, hard rock and melodic hard rock are what I like the most. Please Pete take a moment to review the new albums by H.e.a.t, The night flight orchestra, Palace (from Sweden), Harem Scarem, One Desire (from Finland), Treat new albums. Maybe the golden years for melodic hard rock is gone but there are lots of new brands. One issue I find funny is that we stil talk like we are teenagers and if it's not too heavy is rubbish. Keep those videos coming, cheers from England.

The best song written during Prisoners wasn't even on the album, but it appeared on the 1982-1992 comp: Yesterday's News. It's one of the best songs from their first era!

I don't know anything about them, but I'm gonna give em a try.
I will see Europe for the first time on Sept. 9, 2020 on tour with Foreigner and Kansas. Looking forward to it.
Europe is much more than TFC
I love the final count down song and I ain't ashamed to say it.
Rock on.
Loved Europe until I bought war of kings. The Hammond organ to me is depressing. I like the dark crunch but the Hammond organ ruins it for me.
The debut and Wings of tomorrow are definitely worth checking out….
