Dangerous way to use a rotary cutter
Am finding that the 7 inches long elastic pieces make the mask too loose, at least for us they are.
Someone was kind enough to let me know that I don’t have to have the elastic. Thank you so much
I've ordered some material to make some of these masks! I've looked up other videos, but prefer your design (don't know why tbh) – I think it's because it looks easy to make!
Just made one of these tonight. Took me a little longer than expected due to some false starts (don't use your best fabric first) but it came out great! Thanks for posting this.
AT 1:23 can someone please explain to me what the measurement is. i even put the subs on and cant hear and understand her. is it 1 inch in? thank you in advance
Wow great simple instructions
I must have small or weak ears. The ear loops bent my ears forward and the mask slipped right off. What I ended up doing was cutting 11" pieces of elastic and criss-crossing them (upper left to lower right, upper right to lower left) and that worked great for me.
Is there a top or bottom to this? I am leaving the seam unsown so that a paper towel which is recommended can be inserted.
This was way too small for us and I have a tiny head. Not fond of the elastic over the ear but that may be because the mask was too small. Still, thank you! I will work on the next one and will report back.
How do we find elastic? your online sites say out of stock. Federal Way WA
This is great! Thank you JOANN. I have made two and will be making more for our trips to the grocery store. They are now recommended to be worn in Canada.
This has a lot of Value especially compared to nothing.
gotta find a ruler with inches now
I know I should do the math but for the kid version what size elastic should I use?
STOP SAYING "I'm going to go ahead and . . . " It's an extremely irritating verbal tic.
Great video but the only thing is that doctors on tv say not to use straight pins for they make holes in the fabric and tiny things can go through.
It's tempting to count the number of times the phrase "going to go ahead and.." is used. Instead of simply saying "I then mark this…" or "You cut along the side here…" , it's constantly "I'm going to go ahead and mark this…" or "You're going to go ahead and cut along the side here….". Once you hear it, you realize how "going to go ahead and.." is —everywhere—, dozens of times, and you cannot unhear it. !
1. Is it best to prewash fabric, or wash the masks after the project? I've heard either way is ok. But, I'm new to sewing and wondered what the more experienced people do.
2. I have been using foldable elastic and it seems to work well.
Yes, the masks are in great shortage. My daughter is a nurse. I'll follow the tutorial to make some masks for her though I've got some KN95 masks (similar to N95 but save much money) from ojomask.com(a friend recommended to me).
You can also use the elastic out of old fitted sheets, works good…
I bought the flat hair ties that come with the knot in the end and untying them. They're a little bit softer and a tad more comfortable behind the ears. I also have made a child's size using this same pattern but cutting to 7 1/2" x 5"
Also nursing homes need mask of any kind
What’s sad is that you’re not opened in Miami, and you’re items for the masks are essential. Went to Walmart, CVS and Walgreens and no elastic or anything else we need to make the masks. What were you thinking?
