23. I sort of wish they would put this into perspective a bit better, and emphasize that those tested are the ones who get critically ill and for every one who dies there are likely another 100+ who had only a runny nose.

    At this point its causing undue fear in many, and it isn’t helpful. It’s ideal to push hand washing and good health practices unless it is confirmed that its a death sentence to get it. It’s clearly not equal to ebola or aids, but rather might be a little worse than the flu (or better)…its too early to tell. If it’s confirmed the mutated version is truly deadly then by all means – panic. In the meanwhile I think the media is powerful and should shy away from anything that may cause parents to pressure schools to close down, cause people to leave jobs, and so forth.

    I only share this because I’ve noticed people stressing unduly over something they cannot control (past reasonable measures). Something we still dont know a lot about. And no offense meant toward this news report specifically – but all media .
