  1. Well the reson dominos failed in norway atleast is that the pzza chain they bought and replaced (dolly dimpels) was just flattttttout betttttter

  2. I ate a Domino's pizza once. Once.

Domino's literaly sucks Pizzahut is 1000000 times better i dont get how Domino's is so successful srsly

  5. Wait so one the reasons Domino's have (thankfully) failed here is because they have to pay their worker's decent wages and not focus on just profit? Wow. Just wow

  6. Never liked Domino's here in the Netherlands they serve pizza quattro formaggi with only the worst or the fakes cheese ever.
Wish i spend my money on someting thats had actually good cheese on it.

YES I AM DEMANDING ABOUT MY MELTED GOODNESS

  7. i no longer use my local domino's in the UK, last one i had was exceptionally poor quality burned and lacking toppings even though i paid extra for extra topping. the tomato base was almost non existent just a small patch in the center cheese was also missing completely. i now use pizza hut where i find the quality is very good and well provided for toppings wise. dominos is the worst pizza in my local area and they are losing custom due to their poor quality.

Domino’s problem is just like the problem Coca Cola has at Christmas time in Sweden. They didn’t do their research on Swedish eating and drinking habits. We Swedes love our local pizzeria and no one can make us choose Coke over the traditional Julmust in December…

As a swede I think the largest reason Dominos did not work here apart from the wages is the fact that in every streetcorner here you can find your local pizzeria. It is the most common type of local resturant by far and it is with truckers resturants swedens only real comparision to a diner in the US. Kebab and pizza resturants are also usually the same resturant here, it is a staple of take away and hungover food.

  10. In germany i feel like smaller Pizzerias tend to spare on taxes and have an advantage like that…

  11. no one I know in sweden goes to dominos because local pizzerias in sweden/norway/denmark is (most likely) a lot better then Dominos in taste and price

  12. We already have good pizza chains.

  13. Domino’s is affordable when they know their local market and do it right

  14. they cant compete in norway because of pizzabakeren, hahaha de tar aldri over landet vårt!

  15. Why don't they just do what they're doing in Singapore? Muslims. I think, unlike Singapore, in which brands which want to survive have to find a niche, the predominant plan is still to try to dominate. Frankly, Europe's Muslims do not have choices, and i believe this is where Domino's can target. There's no neeed to go for gold. Just target one, and grow that.

  16. I'm in Sweden. Watching this in my apartment while a newly opened Domino's operates downstairs. And they are all the hype here these days.

  17. In Sweden it's just that we prefer our local syrian pizza 🙂

I live in denmark and see no reason to buy dominoes, when the local pizza stores(not chains) make a better pizza, have a larger variety of pizza optsions and are just as cheap… And in Denmark you can very much deliver pizza, after all just eat started in Denmark.

  21. ah, the eternal question. what happened to domino's in northern europe?

  22. ah, the eternal question. what happened to domino's in northern europe? thanks for filling me in nbc.

  23. Domino's pizza here in Norway just doesn't taste good, too sweet and greasy. Pizza from local independent pizza joints is the best and then Peppes if u wanna eat fresh. Apart from that there's always frozen pizza.

  24. If you try to out pizza the hut things may go bad

  25. Im still waiting for KFC to get here

  26. Comparing Icelanders to Scandinavians is a very dangerous business they have a completely different set of values and identity. Calling an Icelander Scandinavian is like an insult. As for why they haven’t done well in those other Scandinavian markets is fairly straight forward western chain restaurants are not viewed favourably in those countries. It’s seen as cheap, processed etc. The only way those markets take to chain brands is when they modulate their menus to local tastes. And I don’t mean one or two items I mean almost entirely. The majority of the customers in Nordic countries are going to be native people not those from America and Britain etc visiting. So you have to give people what they want and flatter their egos that you are bending your knee to their country and not trying to impose American tastes onto them. As for Iceland. The reason for the oddity is almost all of Iceland’s food is imported very little grows there. And so the mindset is they will go to the best in category for taste etc. So dominos must be the best in category in Iceland. As soon as someone comes along and makes a better tasting pizza for a better price it will be takk bless for dominos. And as soon as a competitor figures this out they are gonna have issues.

  27. Nordic countries just have better food than processed American food

This informstion is not fully true. When it comes to Pizza in particular it can be true because when it comes to Pizzas the local resturants (Pizzerias) sells huge pizzas for a much lower price and they taste much better too… However, to say Swedes eats less fastfood over all (like mcdonalds for example) does not make much sence.

  29. As I Dane myself I can tell you we much rather wanna eat at a small local pizzaria commonly run by immigrants or similar. Their quality is way better and there's much more variety.

  30. Iceland neighbours like Denmark? Americans never impress to show how bad they are at geography. UK is more of a neighbour of Iceland than Denmark in spite of cultural similarities

I'm surprised they're successful anywhere. Absolutely tasteless.

  32. i can only speak for myself but i live in Norway and the biggest reasons why i buy Dominos rarely is the stupid ways they operate regarding customers in the sense that you get several nagging emails and phone messages that you cant disable about everything regarding your purchast, your opinions about dominos and so on. This is if you registre a valid account with them witch is something you pretty much need to do for using most of the offers and even just look at the menu!

  33. Dominos in Denmark closed because of hygiene problems in almost all stores. Now reopened with new owners 😷🤢🤮

  34. why would you buy from dominoes instead of your local kebabhak? in my small town of 20k people we have like 12 kebab-pizzerior…

I was born in Southern Europe, I moved to Scandinavia when I was 8. And I notice quite a lot how my parents’ diet has changed. We were so used to eating a lot of dough, fatty foods while in Scandinavia it’s really healthy eating. I personally love that about Scandinavia. I also notice how my stomach can’t handle fatty foods anymore when I visit my family back in Southern Europe. I literally throw up because of it. Honestly living in Scandinavia, eating the good food, exercising…I feel quite healthy.

  36. In Sweden we don't have a minimum wage.. instead we have the mob.. sorry, I mean union..

  37. What a beautiful part of the world Scandinavia is (along with Australia, NZ, Germany, France) – where minimum wage is enough for people to live on and businesses cannot turn mega profits at the expense of their workers. These places are proof that a compromise between capitalism and socialism is the answer for a better, fairer society.

  38. This is ridiculous ! So, according to CNBC and so-called experts, Domino's shut down because of expensive wages. Domino's came to Scandinavia, and 20 years later they discovered that tey had to pay workers a decent wage ? Ridiculous. What happened is Domino's what shut down end of 2019 by the Danish Food Administration, because of rats and bad products !!! They suddenly got so bad a press in Scandinavia they had to shut down all scandinavian franchises. Hey CNBC, do your job !!!!!!

  39. Dominos failed in Sweden because Swedish pizza are the best in the world.

  40. Food in Nordic countries is really terrible. I traveled there often but I could not name anything eatable. The best local food is sandwich. Burger King and McDonalds are the best places to eat there.

  41. In Sweden, the main competition consists of the plethora of independent pizzerias all over the country, considered by many to be as much of an institution as the meatballs. That’s why pizza chains have a lot harder time competing there than chains in the other fast food categories (burgers, chicken, coffee, hot dogs, donuts, waffles, etc.). McDonalds and Burger King can still sustainability compete against Max and Sibylla. However, I would be surprised if Pizza Hut are faring much better there than Domino’s, as if I wasn’t surprised enough already to see them have a presence in Sweden in the first place.

In Norway, Dolly Dimple started off in Sandnes, a small to medium (in local scale; population at the time: around 35000) town, and it took a while before they started expanding. At some point, investors with deep pockets bought the then largely local chain, and grew it too fast, with a desire to go nationwide as soon as possible, instead of growing the business at a more sustainable pace, allowing for time to improve routines.
That’s what resulted in the inefficiency that Domino’s inherited when they bought the chain.

  42. CANT BEAT A GOOD DOMEENOES PIZZA PIE.ICELAND IS RUBBISH THOUGH ALL FROZEN STUFFS DOMEENOES BETTER HANDS DOON

  43. Peppes' Pizza in Norway is trash and overpriced compared to Dominos. You pay equally much having a Dominos delivered to your door as it costs dining out at Peppes and the pizzas there don't even taste good.

  44. What are you talking about? Trondheim, Norway just got our first Domino's ever less than a year ago😂
