As it is now, Computer Reset is open on certain weekends for a limited number of folks to explore.
And yes, things are available for purchase! The goal is to save as much from the landfill and the scrappers as possible 🙂

there should be some kind of national computer museum or something… invite computer companies to chip in to help covering the costs… keep between 10-50 of each of the machines, computers, displays, etc. so it could serve as a small legacy

You are exaggerating💾! Out of your mind😱!!!, there is no way that anyone could have use for anything bigger than a 5Mb Pippin 🚚 (Profile Apple🍎 III) not in our lifetimes! 😇😎😁 [A friend owned an Apple III + 5Mb Profile in early 80's he lived in Alice Springs, Northern Territory*, Australia. He was the first owner of a III in the N.T.* we used to joke that the only bigger computers belonged to the C.I.A. at Pine Gap [Earth station outside Alice Springs] BUT we did not joke about how it would be IMPOSSIBLE to fill up a 5Mb Profile ……. ROGLMAO now.

  6. wanna go there

  7. Things I saw that bring back memories:

    1. tape backup drives and the tapes that go with them.

    2. lots of dumb terminals. wow.

    3. word perfect retail boxes with the holograms (remember when people would counterfeit wordperfect for dos?)

  8. 20:22 omg I want that blue apple monitor!

  9. Hi great video man thanks ! question what's the name of manufacturer and system below your speakers ? the one with the colorful equalizer ?

  10. that vintage compaq lappy, reminds me of the tandy 1000 series laptop i found and grabbed while working at goodwill back in the day. never tested it, other than finding a working power supply, love this old stuff, idk why.

  11. You should probably name any buildings or stores you go to as "A LGR place" <> It has been said that unofficially, Alexey Pajitnov's Tetris game was so addicting that it actually caused the USSR to lose the war since no work was getting done. Of course, none of this is confirmed.

  12. my first pc was a PS 1… 1991 — shame that he was closing. hope he sold what they could… do you knwo what happened?

  13. this is history and should be protected.

  14. I'd rather watch other people pick through it, that's all I need a bunch of stuff I will use for a week then never touch again.

  15. This place is just sad. The bed tucked into that corner, the personal garbage everywhere. You can see the deterioration of a human being plastered in every room.

  16. EDIT: I wrote this before the end of the video because I couldn't contain myself lol.
So much of the stuff shown here is salvageable… It just takes a younger, more creative mind to find uses for everything. I mean, here's a couple of things:

    – Sell the diskette drives online to hobbyists and tinkerers who need a bunch of stepper motors, or to those guys who make music with floppy drives etc.
    – Tear down the printers to extract the stepper motors and axes, rails, girders and other sliding mechanisms and sell it to 3D-printer enthusiasts
    – Clean up old displays and sell them online (many a Fallout series fan would love to have one of those green terminal displays)
    – Sell the extension cards (such as those Hercules cards) to scrappers wholesale or scrap them yourselves (there's a reason those cards weigh a lot…)
    – Catalogue all the machine-specific software and host it online for anyone to access
    – Gather all the repair tools and reuse them for ANY other project (decent soldering gear is always handy, and you can do amazing things if you have more than just the basics)
    – Scrap all things with no modern-day value for keys, switches, buttons, toggles, dials, num pads, radial selectors, analogues (buttons, adjusters, sliders) and sell them in a catalogued way on eBay
    – Sell the bulk of all the cables for their copper value
    – Donate/sell rare items to museums or private collectors (this channel has a subscriber base which contains enough of those, I reckon)
    – Remove the fans from the computer cases, wash them in a dishwasher (they'll survive) and sell them (they don't lose value since they're basic components)
    – Remove all cool-looking displays and LEDs/indicators and sell to hobbyists

I can keep going like this. All it needs is some dedication and someone with a passion for old technology. If I lived nearby I would have done it already… I would say that if you could have the entire inventory for a decent price, you could make quite some money.

  17. Just wandering if any buddy knows what company made the cat pc at time stamp 20:13?
